Glasgow Parks Champs race #1, Garscube.

#3 went left, turned out couldn't cross the pitches so it was too far vs right hand route.
#4 just couldn't see it and so turned off to the right
#6 low route not as good as high route, missed to the right, map iffy.

Rubbish. 6th place and 85secs down. Could have been a lot more if Dave R hadn't lost a minute trying to miss #4 out!

Glasgow Parks race #2, Kelvingrove.
Better. But not great.
Wobbled in circle at #7 (few secs) and ran down wrong yellow strip at #8 (25secs).

3rd place this time but still 58 secs behind Dave.
Definitely couldn't have run that. Although at least average HR a little higher this time.

Glasgow Parks race #3, chasing start at Drumpellier.
Starting on same second as Graeme with Kenny Milton 3 secs behind. Dave R 2:23 ahead and Paul C 1:01 ahead.

Fast start and struggling to keep up with Graeme and Kenny, caught near #2 also by Will on the Open. Into the young trees towards #3 and suddenly there were the leaders on all courses finding it at the same time as us.
So first five all together leaving #3.....although soon I was barely keeping up. Ahead of Paul heading to #7 but on the cut through the rhodedendrons I found a nice marsh full of waist-deep water and led Paul into it too.
That was enough for the others to disappear ahead, from there it was just an occasional glimpse of Graeme's RacetheCastles t-shirt far ahead. Took a safe round route to the vague-looking #12 in the hope the group ahead would miss it on a straight route - no such luck so 4th place and almost two mins back again by the end.

Much fun and made me work hard. Need to find some basic speed if I want to compete in this sort of race!

FVO night race, Doune (in what is left of the woodland).

I really need to find a way to get to these night races earlier rather than just in time for the start! Just like two weeks ago, got running okay without a warmup but the warmup seems to be needed to get my brain working.....

So, all over the place early on (far from alone in this!). Gradually managed to get into things navigation-wise after #8. Brad, Roger, Fi and Fanni all still around too and gradually things strung out a bit. Caught Fraser leaving #11 and Dixie at #12, but went round not straight at the last part of #12 and Rog got away with a bit of a gap. Caught back up to Rog at #18 with Fraser still close behind, got the way through the ponds quickest so punched the penultimate at #19 ahead, but was no match for Rog on the run from there to the end.

All good fun particularly the racing towards the end. Shocking start though, got to #6 after 17 minutes (GG and Will were off the front and there in 8 mins). The rest took them 32/35 respectively and took me 39, so things did improve a bit...just as well as otherwise I would have been out there for a very long time.....
