Orienteering 29:22 [5] 5.0 km (5:52 / km)

First leg for the men of steel. Although we would be like to be in the battle for first it was abvious that the team is not good enough yet and we were going for third with SYO2 and OD.

Good race just stuck in behind the pack (which as usual was heavily front loaded) and made sure i got the right gaffles. I think i had slightly longer gaffle round the last loop which meant i dropped back a little. Feeling tired.

5th in the end of it all.

Was looking forward to today i thought the length would suit me. Off the pace again though. Missed the spectator control on the crag which was obviously frustrating. I think the main reason for the poor result is that i'm not quick enough through the terrain which makes me frustrated and my orienteering suffers.

I also managed to break the strap of my garmin today.

Don't really know what happened today. I knew that it was going to be tough which doesn't suit me down to the ground so went of hard but missed the first control. I then continued to make mistakes in the circle, at 5 inparticular where i just couldn't read the crags. Just not good enough orienteering basically.

Event: JK 2009
 

Orienteering 17:55 [5] 4.0 km (4:29 / km)

Sprint at the JK. Didn't feel very smooth throughout but was going ok untill i fell and hit a root. I don't think it was a coincidence that my biggest mistake of around 15 seconds cam after this (where i was caught by Scott). Managed to finish in front of Scott by taking better routes to the last few controls. Great run by Rhodri but i wasn't suprised, the boy is quick.
