Helvellyn
Little nip up Helvellyn with IanW and Hanna after staying in the YHA on Sat night. Made good pace and it was good to be on the fells. The top was very breezy but the ascent and descent was nice.

Also the bunk house for OUOC/CUOC Dec training is in the same place as the YHA ... ie the start of this route.

2hrs up and about 1:30 back ot the house. Went up and back Ed Catmur style as it was a lovely day even on the summit. Ian's shoes fell too bit on the way back and that slowed us down a little.

Creag Mhic
UK Cup Long Race

Got nervous about the amount of physical in this, esp as I have lacked long runs in the last month (long outings have been sculling and I didnt know how the stamina effects compare). So took it a bit easily physically (and the GPS went flat so I had no knowledge of time or how hard Iwas pushing).

Hit the controls well mostly through out.
6 Lost 2 mins by getting on the wrong hill. Noticed it didnt fit quickly and correctly. Should have used compass coming off the top of the stream bank.
2, 5, 8 Lost 20s in the circle by not hitting it claenly.
12 Came out 45degress off. Corrected well but extra distance run.
18 Biggest mistake ofthe day - 90s. Got off line, corrected well but then went round the wrong hill. Talking to others I was not alone.

Overall could have pushed harder and reassuring I still have the stamina. Scored more UK Cup points.

Ardnaskie
UK Cup Middle Race
Resolved to push hard but keep up the technical workand it paid off.

1,4 Lost time through being hesitant didnt notice it at the time but looking back it makes sense.
12 Didnt look as I expected so wrmt round the hill too far. Realised it ws not working and relocated quite quickly.
Ran from 11 to halfway to 14 with Eddie. Made me push the pace but still felt mostly under control.

Overall a better run both technically and physically. Scored a UK cup point for being joint 50th!

Dunollie and Dunstaffnage
Day1 of Scottish 6 days (M21E).

Overcast day but not cold. Was helping later off so went off before the first start First few controls ran aggressively and cleanly. Then made a few smaller mistakes (10-30s) later on and also seemedto work slightly less hard (HR and pace fell off slightly).

7 Went up early and hesitated. 30s
14 Ended up going round tothe R. Liked the route choice and thus a good route in. But then blew it and lost 1 min.Should have read the description to identify exact location.
16 Overshot and was high
18 Got low and into the braken and then low in the circle. All in all not a great leg.

Found it quite easy but then let silly generally small errors creap in. Need to keep up the technique even in not quite as hard areas. (And keep pushing through before the AP)
