Faffing with MapRunF

Testing the new app to see if I can use it to set some simple orienteering courses in the woods, to amuse the kids. Seemed to work pretty well - better than my legs and knee, anyway! Will draw up something easy for tomorrow and let the kids loose on it.

Got wet - novelty. Also bumped into Derek E, that man is always out running!

Virtual Ventoux.

A bit bored with Zwift routes, so when I read that Road Grand Tours Premium is free for the duration of the CV-19 outbreak, I thought that I'd give it another go. Cue much cursing and gnashing of teeth, but I eventually got it installed on both my phone and PC and picked a nice easy route to start with. Er, Mont Ventoux. Oops.

Felt pretty good after a couple of easy days, and managed to maintain a nice, strong pace up the climb, a bit above current FTP (pleased with that), and even had enough in the tank for the final 1km sprint to the Meteo station. Great. Well, apart from the mobile app losing all my data from the ride, because apparently Huawei phones' aggressive battery management causes it to drop connection after 15 minutes. Bah. I bet you Froomey doesn't have to read the FAQ before he sets off on his bike. FAQ it. Mind you, I didn't have to cope with the Vent that gives the real Mont Ventoux its name. Good workout!
