Orienteering 25:05 [3] 3.9 km (6:26 / km)
shoes: Kayano 26

A bit of a frustrating run with lots of unexpected gates closed. Good to practice handling situations out of our control. I coped OK and map was really nice and clear to read. Aoife had trouble.

With Nat after getting a few jobs finished beforehand. No Paddy the Baker at Farmers Market. Most other stalls were there. Native plant lady was having her last day for foreseeable.

A quick escape from my desk after lunch. Warm but very windy. Bruce Ridge quite gravelly and loose surface despite wet conditions last Saturday.

Another crazily stupid activity to do when you’re old, decrepit and can’t see! A DNF at the ACT Night Champs. Quite good fun but a bi too steep and long for me. Started quite well, apart from a face-plant in the first 500m, and got 1-5 really well. OK to 6, but a bit high in the circle and it all went downhill from there. finding it impossible to read the rock detail many times did not help. Got 9-11 OK but again messed 12 and 14 (too high on both). 18 I was too low and then had to climb through blackberry. Almost ran into a massive spider going to 19 and was done after that.
Still a long jog back afterwards. Half wish I’d kept on, but control 1 was a pivot for 6, 16 and 27 and really was not keen to head back there again. Had a bad blister, hopefully it heals quickly. Need to remember these shoes give me blisters.

On the plus side - it was a beautiful evening, a stunning sunset driving out to the event and then seeing the light fade over the Brindabellas as we walked up to the start. Great cloud formations too. And then, during the event, if you looked up and around, Canberra spread out below was quite a wonderful sight too.

MTB 21:55 [3] 6.42 km (17.6 kph) +85m
shoes: Sidi MTB

Not sure whether or not I should go into the office today, decided to based on getting out for a nice ride. Lovely and crisp, but feeling very tired. Time was OK though.

Headed home a little early as it was quiet in - no Dev team and only some finance. Lucky the ops team is mostly on deck, otherwise it would have been a very lonely. Feel bad for the 24/7 shift who will be very lonely over the next while...
Trip home was quite warm and my legs were still very tired. Jumped in the pool for a few microseconds when I got home. Might be the last of the season unless there is a solid heatwave coming up.

Testing out a calf. It seemed to be better than my hamstrings. Good catch up with Nat too.
