Orienteering 57:35 [3] 7.38 km (7:48 / km) +92m 7:21 / km

Worst day today. Should have suited me but I was noT in the right mood and was too tired. Got to start 15 sec before call-up. Ankle brace hurting foot so re-adjusted it. still hurting on start line so took the thing off and abandoned it there. Bad direction to 1 and was very lost for a bit. bad direction to 2, unfortunate route to 4 but got it fine. again poor direction to 5 but got it fine. Awful navigation to 7 just running blindly the wrong way, managed to save myself and got it fine. 8 was awful with misidentifying a creek system and running the wring was for a bit. 9 took the right route but executed very poorly and confused myself. 10 and 11 fine. 12-finish was I. the erosion gully system and I blew time on every control through being too tired and weak as well as not reading detail on map. the good news was no ankle twist despite no brace.

Orienteering 51:35 [3] 6.7 km (7:42 / km) +131m 7:01 / km

feeling a bit better today. very bad direction to 1 but managed to save that with only 1 min lost. poor route to 8, made worse by getting distracted by seeing Anita on her way to 9. Got direction wrong on final bit into 10 and lost confidence on final bit of leg to 12.

VE with Aoife. She took this one quite casually despite starting out stating that she wanted to finish in 17:58 which would put her between Jamie and Julia in the results... stopped to help Saacha just before 4 and before I knew it Aoife had disappeared. Had no idea where her course went as am not allowed to see the map these days. Took off up the creek hoping to catch her and luckily caught sight as she crossed from one gully to the next. I think this section without me was the best of the day for her. finished fine despite wanting to take "short cuts" all the way along the track section.

Had Barbara start 2 min behind and Jenny 4 min behind so knew I'd probably see one or both at some stage. they both caught me at 6 through much better route. Was quite happy to stay with them (yo-yo-ing) until 13. It was fun to race like this for a bit but I Was getting quite tired and bored by then so took a radical and stupid route to 14 which broke the string, ok but very tired from there to the finish. Need to do some training to compete with these girls!

Orienteering 19:20 [2] 2.0 km (9:40 / km)
shoes: VJ Bold 2013

Ve with Aoife. she started well but did not read map for 2-3 so we lost a fair bit of time there, followed track instead of fence. ok for the rest of the course, saw a control on way to 8 so ran off the track to get it. She realised and corrected well when she checked the code.
