I was going to say this takes the cake out of all my recent shockers, but maybe it wasn't quite THAT bad. Started in a positive mind-set but was wonky all the way to the 4th control. Not able to feel at all comfortable with the map, but finding the controls OK. Then there was no way I could concentrate enough to get 5. Seeing as I was relegated from the Metroleague team I decided to not bother hunting for it and continued on to 6. Managed to find the river and guess where I had been. Made it as far as 10 and decided that I really need some recovery time so went straight home from there...

A very wet day out. I'm glad I'd arranged to meet Tracy at 10 as my original plan of running alone at 7 would not have happened. It was not raining when we set out and most of the time, but a few heavy showers came through. The ground was essentially just running water most of the way. The rest was pooling water. Went in up to my ankles to cross piddly little Blue Gum Creek. One part of Fairylands looked like a lake. Quite a few of the creek crossings were a bit hairy with slippery rocks submerged. Quite a few nice waterfalls along the way.

Went down Bluegum, across golf course to meet Tracy & Anthea, up along the tracks past the Shinglers to Mowbray, across and down a few parks, abandoned the tracks coming down as it was too wet, out to Epping Rd and back along the north side of Fairylands then home.

The session was supposed to be 6 x 400 but I stopped at 4 with the last two being extremely ordinary. Not sure what's wrong, hopefully just tired. 60 sec recoveries.

At Marsfield, mostly in the dark. Enjoyed the run again. Annoying to be so much slower than Eoin. It took me a while to warm up but I felt good towards the end. Just a small time loss running the wrong direction out of the last control. That and a long line of traffic outside the reserve meant I was 2 minutes late instead of one or less. Left a 20 point control right near the finish - it probably would have paid off getting it as I would not have been stopped waiting for the traffic... 500 - 20 (late) = 480.

Hips day today. It was one of those days when my head was a level above the rest of the class (i.e. I couldn't bend enough).

With Tracy in Lane Cove, Paula encouraging and checking our style! 6 x short hills (steep up), 6 x long hills (up/down, 3 one way and 3 the other). Picnic areas 10/11 I think..

Short hills (50m):
all 14 seconds.

Long hills (330m):

The second set were definitely harder, being steeper on the up hill section and more climb. I ran in front for the first set and Tracy the second. The last one we ran together - she just pipped me at the top and ran away down the other side.
