Run 2:40:00 [3] 23.0 km (6:57 / km) +480m 6:18 / km
shoes: Mizuno Wave Rider 13

Great fun, good company! Enjoyed the much more relaxed run this year, will need to practice being serious for next year (maybe).

In hindsight Mace had the right idea to cut off Artarmon/Tunks Park and take in the sights of Berry Island instead. Wished I'd opted for that route.

Orienteering (Summer Series) 46:20 [3] 7.0 km (6:37 / km)
shoes: Mizuno Wave Rider 13

At Mosman 470 points from 510 visited, should have gotten at least 20 extra as well. Got off to a bad start unable to find 17 (it was on a smaller building I didn't see on the map or on the ground), ran past 27 and had to go back up hill to get it. Had a few head spins climbing down and looking over cliffs for 5 but did eventually locate it... Smooth from there until I was heading home with plenty of time. Got ahead of myself at 19 and started looking too early lost time there. Then ran past the steps for 23 (they were about 30cm wide). Time loss from mistakes >> 4 minutes!

Breathing also quite bad from 17 minutes onwards. Not happy about that either.

Cycling (Mapping) 1:00:00 [3] 16.5 km (16.5 kph)
shoes: Sidi MTB

Map checking at Nurragingy. Nice area in the reserve but the rest is very bland. Was not brave enough to investigate all the supposed small tracks in long grass. I think that is a job for winter.

Stopped to check the clunking noise at the furthest point from home & found the chainrings attached by just 2 very loose bolts. Rode very carefully from there and stopped a couple of times to re-tighten on the way back. Time for a bit of bike maintenance I think!

Orienteering (Sprint Series) 19:43 [3] 3.8 km (5:11 / km)
shoes: Mizuno Wave Rider 13

A mixed up kind of run. Felt slow and sluggish at the start. Lots of open straight running where I knew I was losing time. Got to 1 and had no idea where 2 was so lost a bit there. It got more technical from 5 and I started to read well ahead and got the flow right. Then I caught sight of Josh and though "that will make me run a bit harder" but instead I missed the way into 9, lost time there, forgot my route out to 10 and made some major errors on that leg (including getting lost in a car park and being unable to read the map in the dark!). Settled down again for 12 and got the route to 13 right (took the safe way, Tracy & Marina both lost a lot of time here). Possibly lost time on 14 but so did everyone, I think the map might be slightly out in the placement of the 13 control feature... Tracy was 90 seconds ahead today. She got all that time on 2, 9 and 10, but also lost 30 seconds on 13 so she was running fast! Malin was just over a minute ahead but a norwegian girl smashed us all, in just over 16 minutes!

Note

Next week I will do a warm up!
