Orienteering 1:02:00 [3] 10.4 km (5:58 / km)
shoes: Mizuno Wave Rider 13

Central Coast summer series - 60 minute score event & good fun. Once again I overestimated my abilities and managed to arrive late. Not only did I lose 20 points for that but also 20 points for the control I ran past and forgot to write the number down... Also ditched quite a few others trying to get back in time but I was too tired to run any faster. Biggest week for quite a while so I think I'm allowed to be a bit slow.

Note

Actually that's the most training I've done in a week since September 2009 - amazing! Let's hope this is the start of a much better year :)

Run 1:35:00 [3] 14.0 km (6:47 / km)
shoes: Mizuno Wave Rider 13

Loop up to de Burgh's bridge (anticlockwise). Slow, humid struggle. Saw '00s of water dragons out this morning. New shoes covered in mud after a total of 5 minutes 58 seconds running.

Run (Exploration debacle) 55:00 [3] 8.5 km (6:28 / km)
shoes: Saucony Omni

Thought I'd try to run somewhere different today, planned to start from under east side of Roseville Bridge. Took the wrong car so parked on west side of bridge to avoid $7 parking fee, so that added a boring extra 15+min to the run.
Decided to try the "Casuarina" track first and come back along "Lyrebird". The Casuarina climbed high and the Lyrebird looked like it might be a bit boring. This was a dumb idea - the track was unrunnable for most parts (at least for me) - precipitous, overgrown, rocky, hard to find sometimes, crossing steep waterfally creeks. Nice trigger plants all along that would have kept Leida happy. Lots of walking, huffing and puffing along here. Finally found a place to descend to the other track and this was quite steep. Glad to find the Lyrebird track - it wasn't too boring and had quite a few fringed lillies along one section. Struggled back in the warmth (29 degrees according to the car!). I'll try to be a bit more selective in future explorations...

A beautiful sunny afternoon for a wedding down by the water - I bet they were glad to have been there today & not Wednesday!

Orienteering 47:30 [3] 8.1 km (5:52 / km)
shoes: Saucony Omni

Pretty heavy rain heading out meant that I was quite cautious for the first half. It seemed to clear up after that but even then it was still quite slushy and slippery. Felt slow compared with last week and ran out of time again, but not by too much this time (3 minutes = 30 points). Should not have tried to get the tempting extra 30 point control/s towards the end as I got lost trying to cross the road/freeway/railway and lost heaps of time. I only got one of those controls in the end it took so long...
480 points this week, a long way behind Tracy & Lisa.

MTB (with trailer) 50:00 [3] 13.0 km (15.6 kph)
shoes: Sidi MTB

To swimming & return. Under a bit of time pressure getting there so going up the hill was rugged. The hill on the way home was worse and I really struggled. Managed to set what must be a new record low speed of 5.4km/hr going up Austral Ave.

The good news was that Aoife seemed to enjoy the time in the trailer - I was afraid she would protest about the duration after so long without being in it.

The other good news is that feeling completely wasted is probably explained by finding my lunch in the microwave just now (almost 6pm). OOPS...

Run 45:00 [3] 7.5 km (6:00 / km)
shoes: Saucony Omni

Parked at the national park, along the river then up to the caravan park across to the Delhi Rd corporate park and down to Fairylands track and back. Wanted to see if I can ride through the park to take Aoife to swimming - should be fine.

Legs tired, calves ouchy, sore left ankle and right knee.
