Orienteering race (Aus Relay) 40:34 [3] 5.0 km (8:07 / km)
shoes: Inov8 X Talon

First leg runner, would prefer to go last with Rachel first, but no such luck. All night could only remember the disasters I've made of first leg in the past. Made a very shaky start but was fairly accurate at the end of the long first control, 2nd a bit dodgy but part way to 3 a few people came past. A bit early looking for 3 but from there was with a group through to 6. Off the pace and lost time going around instead of over the hill to 7 and on my own from there until 10 where I saw Tracy further up the hill & Shannon & Vanessa came past. Lost time on them from there fading up the hill and into the finish but happy with a good run. Needed to get some confidence back. Wish I'd run with confidence yesterday, it was definitely a "happy speed" for that map & terrain.

Orienteering race (Aus Long) 1:37:03 [3]
shoes: Inov8 X Talon

Tried to take it steady and be solid. Made too many route choice errors (always went the "tough" way when I wasn't running hard enough to justify it) and was WAY too steady. Made for a slow time, would have been happy to be 10min faster, so well done to Rachel who was.

Orienteering race (Aus sprint) 17:34 [3]
shoes: Inov8 X Talon

Started excellently but lost 1:45 on a 15sec control. So that was the end of that.

Run 30:00 [3] 5.0 km (6:00 / km)

More like a jogging tour of the floral sights of Kings Park, enjoyable though.
Ankle a bit sore so taking it very easy.
FREEZING today.

Orienteering 16:18 [3] 3.5 km (4:39 / km)
shoes: Kayano 15 new

Another sprint course & another loss to Eoin. Margin the biggest its ever been, and I thought I'd done OK :(
A couple of minor errors and I definitely need to warm up. Reading the map reasonably well. Most time losses/route choice problems were not taking the best option as another looked attractive on leaving the previous control. Selecting routes that optimise exit direction would help that, but no time left to practice.
Tempted to run home but I've learnt my lesson.
