Orienteering 1:53:00 [3] 13.5 km (8:22 / km)

Stupid epic run where I orienteered exceptionally badly, and despite everything telling me to quit, I finished just so that I didn't pull out of a State Champs course. About 5 minutes before the finish I worked out that I was on the wrong course & that is why it felt so long and maybe I was only about half as hopeless as I felt.
Things surely can't get too much worse than this.

Orienteering race 38:26 [3] 5.1 km (7:32 / km)

WA Middle Distance at Bells Rapids - great course & map - really enjoyed it although I felt that I was living close to the edge most of the way around. It would have been nice to look around & enjoy the views now & then but knew I couldn't risk that. Took the first 2 slowly, a bit wayward on 3 and was lucky to look at my compass for about the first time in 10 years and notice I was going the wrong way. Managed to work out where I was and correct myself really quickly (another first). For 4 I was dead on but decided to keep Jen company further down the hill before going to the control. Lost a lot of time on 5 (way too low & no idea where I was for most of the leg). Lost probably close to 2 min on 8, stopped early after having taken a fairly risky but direct route. From there OK, just trying to keep in control (would have been nice to go for it but that could have resulted in disaster). Was leading Eoin by 4 sec at the 2nd last and managed to lose 30sec on the leg by seeing a control and running to it rather than looking where mine was supposed to be.

Yoga 1:00:00 [3]

Failed miserably at any kind of leg exercises today so I have very sore arms instead. Its amazing how few arm muscles a functioning human being can own.

Note
(injured)

Physio instructions no running until the weekend & highly recommends concentration on my navigation then. What would he know about it?

Run intervals (Camel Lake) 30:00 [3] 5.3 km (5:40 / km)
shoes: Kayano 15 new

2 * loops
7:33 and 7:21
Second time in history I've used this circuit so not much to compare against but around 20 sec faster than early 2008 (which I would hope for).
Calf not too bad but didn't push it.
Great to run in sunshine!
