Orienteering race 44:31 [4] **** 3.6 km (12:22 / km)
(sick) shoes: Silva ProLite
Starting to suffer from the flu.
I had been looking forward to this race for a very long time and it was all that this week was going to be about. Unfortunately I ran out of brain power and pedal power about 2/3 of the way through. A great course, too mentally testing for me at this stage of coming back. A mistake on 4 cost some time, but something like that was bound to happen - the setter had just lulled me into a false sense of security thinking "this is fantstic fun". Recovered well enough, but after running hard through the spectator leg lost time on 14, really screwed 16 and then also 18 and 20! These last few mistakes were all a result of too little practice concentrating for extended periods of time (i.e. >10 min) and exhaustion.
Ended up second by just over a minute. I should have won this one by a large margin so am kicking myself for so many silly time losses:(
Will look forward to next year now.
