Run 45:00 [3] 6.01 km (7:29 / km) +63m 7:07 / km
ahr:141 max:170 shoes: Kayano 27 Blue 10

Total guess of time and distance as Nat and I both stopped our watches in the same place and did not restart until very much later...

Good to get out before the rain. It was pretty cold starting but OK running, nowhere near as bad as expected. Was quite tired. Dogs had fun I think.

Right, so I am pretty confident that I am officially over the brain fog. That didn't make my orienteering any better, but now it is just out of practice and sloppiness.

To start with, I was running quite nicely (I was thinking) to number one which is a nice change. The problem was, I was running down hill and made a parallel-sh error once I got to my (not) attack point. 2 was a bit right, 3 was OK but slow. 4 was the long leg. Big route choice and I chose right. In hindsight straight would have worked fine for me. Anyway going right I intended to use the clear forest and avoid the climb. Unfortunately you had to go a lot further out of the way than I did to get the clear and so I was in green and kept choosing the up option. So I traversed the steep slope. I think I did this reasonably OK, but at the end got ahead of myself and totally messed up the end of the leg. Wandered aimlessly for quite a while and eded up way too high. 5 I overshot (too low), 6 was good, 7 went under some rocks instead of over and got trapped too low. 10 had trouble spotting the feature. All in all, a lot of scope for improvement. Surprised to be ONLY 19 minutes behind Tash. 10 minutes was about what I was expecting if I had a good run. and this was far from that.
Should be ready for QB3 hopefully...

Beautiful forest. One of the reasons I came here was in memory of Rob Plowright. I did not know him very well, but he once took me out on Kangaroo Crossing many years ago and taught me a lot about maps, especially contours. This is on of my favourite places.
Today I was ok, far better than the last few weeks. One very major error but I think I was just being lazy and being pulled too far up by others. Managed to re-engage after than and while I was still slow I did manage to make plans and execute them to a reasonable degree.

And continuing the theme managed to mp/dnf today. Aoife had a netball carnival in Wagga so I went to the local event. Great map and a good but novel course. Totally missed 8, probably was too high to start with and then went higher. Decided to skip it due to time pressure but when I worked out where I was, also skipped 9. Given this and lack of time I then dropped final 3 controls. Good to get out and finally think my body and brain are getting back on track. Although not helped by seeing a brown snake from 4-5!

A long day, left at 5:20, got home 12.5 hours later. Aoife umpired 7 games. Lots of scoring so plenty of running for her.

Adding to my growing list of shockers. Totally missed 6 and then took a long time to recover. Need to remember to approach the twilight zone with caution next time we are at Campbell Park.

Run 26:03 [3] 4.05 km (6:26 / km) +60m 6:00 / km
ahr:146 max:176

With Leo. A bit later than planned leaving, then interrupted by a phone call just as I got to Gossan. Made for a less than ideal outing for the day. At least I got out and was able to reschedule the rest of the day to fit the essentials in.
4 PM

Walk 49:54 [3] 2.56 km (19:31 / km) +49m 17:49 / km
ahr:98 max:140

Helping out at the FOG training. Accompanying a lady on her course - lots of discussion about route choice and some finer navigation - reading contours etc.

Run 36:54 [3] 5.51 km (6:42 / km) +76m 6:16 / km
ahr:147 max:163 shoes: Kayano 27 Blue 10

Same as last Sunday, but it was raining this time. A bit warmer though! Good to be out, feeling a bit better, just the one walk (that I can remember) and that was possibly a consequence of too much talking while trying to run :)

Orienteering 32:21 [3] 3.66 km (8:50 / km) +96m 7:48 / km

I was epically hopeless today. Not sure if its out of practice, lazy, unfit, "brain-fog" or all of the above. Anyway, I could not hold a line, could not concentrate, never made any proper plans and struggled to run. Hope I can pull my socks up soon!

Run 54:39 [3] 7.39 km (7:24 / km) +138m 6:46 / km

Little Black Mt with Nat. Another step forward but still needing to walk quite a few times. Very tied by the end.

Run 30:19 [3] 4.41 km (6:53 / km) +142m 5:56 / km

Early run at Stromlo. Wind a bit chilly to start but fine running. Further improved today, still a couple of walks but not as essential as previous runs.

Run 45:03 [3] 6.36 km (7:05 / km) +127m 6:26 / km
ahr:149 max:168 shoes: Kayano 27 Blue 10

Another step on recovery mode. Sunny and relatively warmish morning (i.e. took my jumper off during the run). Not as many stops needed today.

Nat picked me up
Part way through her run. With Indi and Leo. Bruce Ridge loop to 2b10. Feeling much better today but still quite congested really.

Orienteering 31:20 [3] 3.56 km (8:48 / km) +94m 7:46 / km
ahr:152 max:177 shoes: VJ Bold 7.5

Short course at Mt Taylor. A bit sloppy on direction at times, difficulty reading the 5,000 scale map, and still very short on lung power.

Run 12:12 [3] 1.54 km (7:55 / km) +73m 6:25 / km
ahr:137 max:154 shoes: Kayano 27 Blue 10

It was a beautiful morning for a run. Even though I had to wear shorts!

Lungs still feel a bit underpowered. Knees were quite mobile which was good, but they must be bruised and did not like the downhill so walked back.

MTB 6:01 [3] 0.62 km (6.2 kph)
ahr:130 max:167

Epic failure to get out and enjoy the sunshine. Was trying to fix my dropper post while riding, downhill, standing in the pedals, one hand on the bars and one on my seat. Somehow managed to knock the front brake on. Did manage to manoeuvre such that I landed on some red gravel driveway on my uphill rather than the bitumen downhill. made it home to a nice bottle of dettol with my tail between my legs. I blame brain fog.

Run 35:36 [3] 5.26 km (6:46 / km) +62m 6:23 / km
ahr:149 max:172 shoes: Kayano 27 Blue 10

Was not able to get up when the swimming alarm went off but managed to pull myself together enough during the morning to get out for a run in the sun. Really glad I did, but it was very stop start with many rests.
Lucky Nat was very patient!

Took it very easy. Should have been error free but was having a bit of a stomp in the last part of the course after coming across Aoife not on the course she’d entered. Enough has been said about that.
