I should have stuck with the VE, brain not up to reading the map today and legs not up to running.

VE with Aoife - a few slow spots as usual but for a change she was stopping and detouring to admire the view, looking for frogs and feeling the soft moss so I couldn't really complain.

Around Narabeen Lake with Aoife - another improvement, almost normal speed and no dramas despite having to ride through the market and really stupid people up near Pittwater Rd.

Competition for stupidest pedestrian a tie between the family of 5 walking abreast along the path, Dad carrying a swinging scooter that managed to block the remaining 10cm of spare path so Aoife had to detour via grass and the large lady who stopped suddenly in the middle of the path and stuck her foot out to have her husband retie her shoelace.

Didn't get out until quite late and vastly underestimated the loss of light in the valley and under the trees. Took a few bits slow where I could not see. Was a bit sooky about the weather so wore long pants, long sleeves, rain jacket and gloves. The second layer really wasn't necessary but nice to test out the jacket! Walked a fair bit of the hill coming home, should have accepted the lift.

Southhams Rd just out of Cessnock. Quite slow and not too good in the circles as I'd forgotten to take control descriptions. Saw a fox on the way to 6. Very slow, no energy. Tried new glasses, they worked OK. Needed for the pixellated print and fine detail.

Shadowing Aoife. One potential mistake. After punching a control at a track junction, with the control placed a little way down the track leading to the next control, Aoife took herself back to the junction to work out where to go next (i.e. from the exit track rather than entry track). Slow up the hill but sped up when we caught sight of another family to catch.

Accompanying Aoife around Walka water works again. Significant improvement on last week - no tears, no paralysing fear, a few slow and frustrating bits but we did do 2 laps in less than 90% of the time we took for the first lap last week...

Pairs event with Eoin, we managed to get through without miscommunication - quite an achievement! I mucked up the exit from 28 and lost a bit of time there, but no impact on placing (luckily). Really struggled with the fitness, feeling the effect of no training. Hopefully things back to normal this week.

Supposedly cycling with Aoife. We are back where we started, 4 years ago! The biggest thing I exercised today was restraint and I didn't do very well at that.

One more lap. Less drama, same pace. Mum was having trouble keeping her bike upright at the speed we were(n't) going.
