Newcastle event at West Wallsend, not too far a drive to get some pre-easter training (obviously much needed after last week's efforts). Started OK but was pretty tired quite quickly. Poor route execution to 9 and 10, then slow on the flat track run to 11 compared with others. Amazed Eoin didn't catch me, as he'd started 4 min behind. In the end, it was first time in a long time I've beaten both Eoin and Simon, they'd better pull their socks up as although I went OK, it wasn't that great a run.

Don;t like the Mudclaw's, there is too much room for your toes to flop around in the front of the shoe. Disappointing.

Hoped to feel better than last week but it was only a marginal improvement. Ran the whole way this week.

Mt Annan. Hot, humid and hilly. Should have brought the bikes for afterwards.

Torbid conditions, waiting for the thunderstorm that never came. Great to get out for a run and catch up with Paula. A couple of walking breaks for hip - all muscle I think.

Finally got out - Eoin home and cold on way out. A long stint off, legs felt OK, lungs struggled, got quite shaky towards the end and blew out on the last so stopped 1 short of my plan.

Train to event, event to train, found out there were no trains so ran/walked to Roseville and Eoin picked me up on Shirley Road. It would have been much more efficient to just go straight, or ask one of a number of people for a lift! A good decision to have left computer at work for first time in a long time.

Summer Series at Chatswood, I think I had an OK route and one that I wanted to do with as much track running as possible, was struggling early with no strength up hills and too much pounding down. Cut bits out as I went and was looking to be not too late and then lost time (big time) at 14. Made it back 3 seconds before I was 5 minutes late so that was good.

Bad run, it was a relief to find out I'd MPed and wouldn't have my time published.

Run (Long run!) 1:43:00 [3] 13.3 km (7:45 / km)
shoes: Mizuno wave rider

A saturating day out! Paula and her friend Kristine were heading out for about 3 hours, so I tagged on at the beginning and turned back after about 50 min. We went up the Great North walk from the weir and after about 10 min the nice mist turned into quite heavy rain. It eased up a bit after a while, but remained raining for the whole run. The ground was getting quite wet and creeks roaring by the time I got back, hard to imagine what it was like for the others MANY hours later. I lasted ok for 80min/10km but had trouble from there, alternating running and walking the final 3+ km home. Quite demoralising coming up Grosvenor Rd, but on the plus side its the first time I can remember coming home up that hill for a very long time.

Garmin having a cranky attack, hope hasn't gotten wet inside...
