Cycling 1:24:34 [1] 8.2 km (5.8 kph) +31m

Bicentennial Park Homebush with Aoife. We were supposed to do the 'clue trail' but after a few dodgy checkpoint we canned that idea and just rode, had fun despite Aoife's first major stack. Aoife did well to ride a lot of narrow boardwalks.

Run 49:55 [3] 7.58 km (6:35 / km) +102m 6:10 / km

Oh that was tough! Easy run with Paula, I wasn't expecting to feel so bad...

Much faster running today and I was at my limit! A bit of time lost getting levels mixed up on way to 2. Looks like I went Oob at 13. Realised I'd made a mistake when I got to the control but got even more mixed up extricating myself... Fun course. It annoying to have made the mistake.

With Nat around Bruce Ridge and across Gossan Hill to the markets where we met Eoin, Andy and the kids who had also all ridden there. I love riding in Canberra!

Orienteering 25:25 [3] 3.5 km (7:15 / km) +56m 6:43 / km

Great fun sprint event, Remembrance Park behind war memorial. Should have had ankle braces and better shoes today but survived unscathed, very pleased with that! A few small time losses, once again my limitation was fitness.

If only I'd gone the right way out of the 2nd last control! Felt quite tired from about halt way and took a bit of a walk to 17. Unlike yesterday I was actually able to run, today my fitness was definitely limiting. Found it Very hard to read the detail near the end - a combination of tired and old age eyesight.

Mass start sprint. Just took my time starting out and was not too woefully behind, was proud of myself to be the only one to go the shorter way to 2. I was pussy footing around due to wet and slippery ground, did not want to risk a fall, even still managed to lose a few bits of time here and there and a big loss on the long leg taking a wrong turn. Lost a bit more time on the last control not seeing the way through. Finished in one piece.

Summer Series at Narrabeen, I only lasted for 40 minutes, unfortunately I wasn't back at the finish by that stage. Brilliant place to run with stunning views and some nice paths (just a few too many steps).

Sprint event at Carss Park, last minute training for the crazy thing I'm doing next weekend. A good course on a nice area to run. I lost a mass of time on 1, firstly running off the wrong direction from the start and then never quite getting a handle on things after I turned around, could not spot the control after all that and lost more time. From there all OK, a bit slow in a few places (especially the long running legs). Thought Ross Barr was going to catch me but luckily he slowed more than I did in the second half.

MTB 1:00:00 [3] 10.5 km (10.5 kph) +190m
shoes: Sidi MTB

Took Eoin on the Manly Dam loop, it was more technical than I remembered, did not exactly fall off, but had a run in with one of the bridges due to my ridiculously wide handlebars. Got off lots of times, felt even more unfit and unco than last week. Heaps of people out on the trail.

Met Tracy and Clare at the Greenwich Ferry wharf and ran from there back to Tracy's, then on to the national park where my courtesy car picked me up. Fantastic afternoon out running along the bush trails, suffered up the hills.

Cascades/Bare Creek trails with Eoin. I was a scaredy cat on the downs and a weakling on the ups.
10 AM

MTB 42:00 [1] 7.43 km (10.6 kph) +54m

Aoife's latest ride - another trip around Narabeen - this time we had Nanny on her fold-up bike and brought money for ice creams at the turn-around point.

Finally did Spit to Manly (or Fairlight which is 2 km or so shorter). Beautiful run, great day to do it, thanks Paula for the opportunity. Far better than being sensible and having a rest day.

Summer Series at West Lindfield - I would not have gone if it wasn't almost on our doorstep. Nice to be running and I took the scenic route again. Enjoyed it, annoyed to be 63 seconds late and spent the next hour analysing all the ways I could have saved 3 seconds on the last control and to the finish...
I was surprised to feel OK running for the first half, cooked myself a little by pacing Mary through the middle section, fell straight off the back once I let her past. 6 runs in 6 days!
