Orienteering 33:50 [3] 4.13 km (8:11 / km) +131m 7:04 / km
shoes: VJ Bold 2013

Started at the same time as Sue Hancock, we were pretty well matched, even with matching dodgy right hips. We punched the common control together, met back there after our first loops and she must have been close behind me after the second loop. The rest of the course we were pretty much together. Nice course and forest but hilly for me. Only real time loss on 14 where I crossed 1 gully too many and did not climb enough.

Orienteering 44:39 [3] 4.83 km (9:15 / km) +174m 7:50 / km
shoes: VJ Bold 2013

A bad start today, missing both 1 and 2. For 1 I was trying to avoid the steep slope and went straight over the detail/control, for 2 I was too early and spend a bit of time back and forth on the slope before correcting. All the rest OK, splits show time loss on 5 (over-ran) and 6 (could not find a crossing place for creek).

Loved finally having the chance to run on Rocky Falls, too bad I did the baby course and I missed the 9th control. Splits show a few other time losses but these were just me not able to move fast through the steeper sections.

A bit sad to mess up Kahli's Rocks, started well but came unstuck on 4. I rushed when I saw crowds of people and went too far left, misidentified the gully and stumbled around in oblivion for a while after that. Recovered OK but do not have the ability to make up time out in the open after that.

Rolled out of bed and wandered up to the surf club for my first ever park run. Was a bit slow but enjoyed being out, it was great to cheer my cousin home! I missed Aoife's wake up, but got a full repeat tour of the events and finds of the morning when I returned.

MTB 30:00 [3] 5.0 km (10.0 kph)

With Aoife and Lily to coffee, Aunty Joan's and return.
6 AM

MTB 52:16 [3] 16.78 km (19.3 kph) +123m
shoes: Sidi MTB

Similar to yesterday but with a couple if extra bits and skipped the water tank hill. Saw some Christmas Bells and black cockatoos out feasting before the rain.

MTB 56:49 [3] 13.61 km (14.4 kph) +159m
shoes: Sidi MTB

Boring way to Shoal Bay then via the water board tracks through the national park to get back. Fortunate to have my phone with me as a navigational aid.

Various exercise 30:00 [3]

Chasing Aoife on her bike, riding my own bike while Aoife rode (a long awaited first time we've managed this), versing Lily and Aoife at totem tennis, smashing Eoin at totem tennis, managing to hold my own against Nadine at totem tennis and other holiday activities.
5 PM

Run 31:02 [3] 5.02 km (6:11 / km) +96m 5:39 / km
shoes: Mizuno wave rider

Fingal Bay to Boulder Bay, coastal path goes all the Way through now. No spider (thanks to the fire I think). But still quite a few bull ants about. Came back through the back, the fire trails are quite boggy and slow going which seems to be good for my hip, if not my morale...

Orienteering 52:00 [3] 7.0 km (7:26 / km)
shoes: Saucony Guide 6

Forgot GPS so no idea of distance. I could blame the analogue watch for a bit of timing miscalculation, but probably not worth 7 minutes. Very hot running and I went too far by taking the scenic route (I'm certain I swore not to do that again). Anyway, it was worth it, ran down to Bradley's head and along the coastal path - very nice on a sunny summer afternoon :) Slog back up the hill was a slog, but there was no avoiding it really. I could have gotten the same points (or more) in far less time but would have done the same route as previous here if I had.

Run 45:00 [3] 7.2 km (6:15 / km)
shoes: Saucony Guide 6

Very late Saturday run with Paula, good to get out and I think it was an OK run - can't remember that long ago! Weir was closed, we both crossed anyway and got yelled at...

7 AM

Run 1:06:45 [3] 9.51 km (7:01 / km) +128m 6:34 / km
shoes: Saucony Guide 6

Nice morning out, didn't see anyone else for the whole loop. Tried to go fairly hard and did OK, walked the rougher sections not sure I'll ever get the confidence to run those again.

Run 48:22 [3] 6.34 km (7:38 / km) +101m 7:04 / km
shoes: Saucony Guide 6

Quite a struggle today, still feeling tired from Wednesday. Another lovely Saturday afternoon jaunt with Paula and Tracy, along the north side of the river this week and earlier that usual to fit in various evening activities.

Quite likely Worst Summer Series Run Ever. It was bound to happen running on our home map, I chose the scenic route despite knowing it was the wrong way to go; and managed to make a meal of the whole thing as well. It was also hot and I ran out of steam badly. Tried running cross country - something I know is an impossibility around these parts, ran past 80 points worth of controls that I did not have the motivation to try for. Next time I will go to UTS...

On a positive note we did receive some good feedback on potential ways to get down to the creek from closer to our house so will need to test that out one time soon.
