Summer series around Field of Mars, great place for a run, glad I made the trek out. Managed to get bitten by a bull ant!

Cycling 1:23:00 [3] 37.3 km (27.0 kph)
shoes: Sidi Road

Similar to last week but went as far as Terrey Hills before turning back. Started out better this week (put some effort in rather than just cruising along...) so was pretty tired by the time I got back. Nice morning out again!

Run 30:00 [3] 5.0 km (6:00 / km)
shoes: Saucony Guide 6

Had to soothe my nerves after my first ever roller coaster ride. An experience I hope never to repeat.

Note

Fun at Spooks in the Park - well worth the drive across town!

Orienteering (Summer series) 47:00 [3] 6.6 km (7:07 / km)
shoes: Saucony Guide 6

A few too many steps for me! Made a couple of route choice errors - mainly because I changed my mind to avoid steps without really considering the consequences. Missed a path on the way back so was late, but picked up enough points on the extra bit to break even.
Beautiful place to run on a warm Wednesday evening! I did take the time to appreciate the views :)

Blast from the past ride: out to Forest Way and return. I used to do this before work every morning, 20 years ago... Really enjoyed myself.
If only I had an old diary to look up the times...

Supervising Aoife cycling, progress is painfully slow but in the right direction.

I've been feeling OK for a few days so took the opportunity to test out running. All pretty good. Stiff and sore but much improved. Good catch up with Paula and Tracy, its been a while since we've all run together!

Great to get out on the MTB again and really enjoyed riding this track. Followed Nat around Bruce/O'Connor Ridge and had trouble keeping up a few times. Bigger bike is definitely harder to handle on tight corners but great to ride generally. Hip OK riding.

Not a good day at all. Started too fast and did not read map properly. Thought I knew the spur that 1 was on, but had that wrong in my head so climbed the steep hill needlessly and in the wrong direction. After getting on course got the control fine and was trotting along to 2 when 2 disasters struck. First of all I saw a snake, which was fine but made me jumpy. Then I was so busy looking for snakes a stumbled on a rock and really jammed my bad hip. Barely able to walk for a bit but kept on and got 2 then gingerly headed to 3. Seeing Tracy cheered me up and kept me going. Long leg from 4-5 was another poor route choice, but possible the best for walking on smooth ground. Was a bit dumb on 7, going to the wrong watercourse when I knew perfectly well it was the wrong one. Very sore now for a week afterwards. Hoping things will settle down soon.

Quite a dodgy run, missed the first 2 controls quite badly. After that I was slow and mostly cautious. Lost time on 7 as well, too busy contouring out of 6 and avoiding the hill that the control was on top of. 3rd place, but 4 min down on Tash and Emily and 9 min behind Eoin on the same course.
