A nice jog around, hampered by severe unfitness and a sore back. Too much bending over yesterday? Took the moral victory by strictly observing the OOB gardens.

Pelaw Main - a bit of a shocker as per any standard Newcastle event for me. Lost a lot of time at 6. Map and card on the verge of disintegration from 5 onwards so I was doing my best to keep them both intact till the finish.

I felt good moving for the dirst time in a long time and it was Such a nice morning I got off at Milsons point. And walked across the bridge to work. Hip tired by the end ( probably due to inappropriate footwear and carrying a briefcase) but no long term effects.

Finally - a good day out! I have not been wearing ankle braces in an attempt to force myself to slow down, but it seems that it just means I am more unstable and uncertain and spend much more brain power staying calm and upright than map-reading. Now I am just slow from unfitness so today I wore the braces, felt comfortable the whole way and managed to stay conscious of what I was doing. It could have been dangerous to lose yourself on this map and bad memories from last year kept me concentrating the whole way.

DNF. Oops, got 12 too early and did not think to check code... It was a warm, sunny day out and I did not really want my time up for all to see, so not entirely a bad thing.

Slow, slow, slow and unfit.

Riding hire bikes around Dubbo zoo. Pulled Aoife with a tag-along which in theory was easier than the trailer (not that she'd fit) and definitely easier than the effort of getting her moving on her own bike. Great fun and an absolutely brilliant day out! General unfitness and Sideways lurches on the bike behind left me pretty drained by the end of the day and when we took a wrong turn an rode downhill away from the koalas I made Eoin do the towing back up hill.
