Run 53:25 [3] 8.56 km (6:14 / km) +203m 5:35 / km

From home to Two Creeks and down to Roseville Bridge where my chariot was waiting. Quite a tough run and I thought a decent pace. A fair bit slower than a few years ago!

Paddy Pallin rogaine in trying conditions. Luckily we were pre-entered as entry on the day would not have happened. A wet day with steady rain the whole time, sometimes a bit harder and by the end everything was sodden, tracks turned to lakes and creeks, creeks to raging torrents. I thought Paula would get washed out to sea when we crossed one creek at the beach. She had been chest deep in a creek earlier in the day, glad I was not leading there!
A tough day having twisted my ankle twice within the first hour, the second time I almost fainted with the shock'/pain - that would have been fun! Pleased to have made it to the end after that, was quite cautious as a result, especially downhill on slippery stuff.
Had a couple of major blow outs (30 and 90). The first we were not careful enough, the second we knew would be tough (vague) but again were not careful enough. Cut out one on the way back and did not do the north loop we'd planned. Squeezed 33 in at the end (much to Greg and Mounty's concern) and pushed hard to the finish only to fail to identify the finish punches. Managed to be 11 sec late! Probably only lost 10 looking for the punches... Good day out but tired and sore now.

For the record: not much food - 2 Anzacs and 2 gels - no lollies(!), vjs were great (bit slipply on wet logs), should have taped feet - ankle twist was very bad and plantar suffered big time as a result, hard to walk Monday but fortunately muscles are in sympathy there so have not moved far.

Thanks to Paula and to Aoife who was very patient stuck in a tent for 7+ hours.

Nothing like some last minute training for the athletics carnival!

Orienteering 23:06 [3] 2.0 km (11:32 / km) +21m 10:58 / km

Shadowed Aoife - she had done first 2 days herself but campus was a bit harder. Glad I did, she was struggling at times.

Orienteering 17:11 [3] 2.61 km (6:35 / km) +30m 6:13 / km

Not too bad. A few small losses on 3, 4 and 10 but then mightily stuffed up 11 running into dead end and rather than extracting just made it worse. A minute list there! Need to train more... What's new?

A lot better today but much easier course. Was reasonably happy with running ( lack of training considered). Need to make an effort to find time in the week.

What a shocker! So excited to get out for a run in lovely sand dunes, I just ran like an idiot. Nearly gave up on 16, eventually got it after 10 min wasted. Then messed up 17 and 19 as well. Obviously lost concentration after 45 min.

PS amazing new map, was worth the trip just for this. Need to go back and do it properly.
