Run 35:00 [3] 5.0 km (7:00 / km)
(sick) shoes: Saucony Omni

Kaiser Stuhl - great area, just jogged/walked to get the legs moving. Very tired & slow.
Health improving.

Note
(sick)

Finally started antibiotics. They had a positive impact on head, ears & sinus! Chest still heavy.

Sunday Sep 26, 2010 #

Note
(sick)

Sat out the SA Long Champs - looked like a good and challenging course.

Orienteering race 41:42 [3] 5.64 km (7:24 / km)
(sick) shoes: Inov8 X Talon

Australian Middle Distance Champs at Para Wirra.
A decent run in the circumstances. Unable to move fast enough to make any serious errors - just a bit wayward on 2 and 14, got distracted and needlessly went down to check another control on the way to 10. Apart from that just slow and still gasping.

A very nice area to be in, unfortunate not to be able to enjoy it more.

Orienteering 53:40 [3] 7.5 km (7:09 / km)
(sick) shoes: Inov8 X Talon

Another sensational Malmalling day!
Had a bad start - lost 2.5min on the first control, a bit far left then went up the hill to relocate, lost another 2 on number 2 and Kellie caught me (4min) here. Quite annoyed with myself as 2 was a pivot control and when I came back later I am certain I could see the control from the first rock I stood on the first time I was looking for 2 (edit - GPS says NO). 3-5 were fun controls and I did them well, from there it was a lot of fast running and I did not have the ability to do that. Managed to hold off Kellie until 10 as I was clean in all the circles and she would drop off at each control then catch me up (on the longer legs). Rachel stromed past us both at 9 and disappeared into the sunset pretty quickly. 10-11 was uphill and that was it for me..
Surprised that my finish split did not look so bad as I walked it, apparently others got lost finding the finish banner.

Breathing not as bad afterwards as yesterday - I think that I just was not running at all today.

Orienteering 40:55 [3] 5.6 km (7:18 / km)
(sick) shoes: Inov8 X Talon

I love Malmalling! - that's all I could think of the whole way around this course.
Good fun but again very underpowered and no ability to go up hill. No major problems, a bit slow/cautious on 7 moving from attackpoint to control through blackboys, wobbly on 9 (avoiding the hill), high into 11, went to wrong last control being lazy and again avoiding climb.

Lots of breathing problems after.

Run 19:23 [3] 3.5 km (5:32 / km)
(sick) shoes: Saucony Omni

Richard & Nicole's directly to Stickybeak's playground. Needed a walk part way up the dual carriageway, good spot to stop as there were a couple of spider orchids I may have missed otherwise. Its a bit sad when you can't keep up with someone who's just completed 30 hours travel from the other side of the world...

King's Park beautiful of course!

Orienteering 1:19:11 [3] 7.8 km (10:09 / km)
(sick) shoes: Inov8 X Talon

Super tough day out today. Very steep and treacherous start to the course. Spent some time deciding whether to continue after #3 but went on and was glad I did as the next section was the most fun part of the course through sandstone detail. Thought the last section of the course looked boring but ended up really enjoying it being able to run through the forest.

Breathing bad

Orienteering 46:58 [3] 4.9 km (9:35 / km)
(sick) shoes: Inov8 X Talon

Quite a steep area and this affected me quite badly. Did ok on most legs but lost time on 2, 4, 6, 7 and 11. Nice to have Felicity to chase on the last section of the course - I was in danger of walking the end otherwise.

Run 30:00 [3] 5.0 km (6:00 / km)
(sick) shoes: Saucony Omni

Fairly easy run legs felt good again, coughing bad.

Wednesday Sep 8, 2010 #

Run 39:00 [3] 6.5 km (6:00 / km)
(sick) shoes: Saucony Omni

After a very substandard morning finally got out for a run at 3. Felt much better than yesterday and much better for the run too. Legs are strong again, but breathing shallow. One more positive for Sydney compared with Perth is that my sinuses didn't block up like they would normally do running feeling like this.

Took my camera to take some orchid pictures but the battery went dead the first time I turned it on.

Run 40:00 [3] 6.2 km (6:27 / km)
(sick) shoes: Saucony Omni

Struggled down to Lane Cove park and back. Cold still a problem especially throat. Not feeling strong or sprightly despite the easy week I've had.

Sunday Sep 5, 2010 #

Run 40:00 [3] 7.0 km (5:43 / km)
(sick) shoes: Saucony Omni

2 Creeks - just Lindfield to Echo Point (Roseville Bridge)
Again not feeling great but glad to have been out. A windy day, but sunny and fairly warm. Eoin dropped me near the station & I met him & Aoife down at the beach at Echo Point. Aoife got fairly wet there...

Note

Had made a trip to Orange especially to run on Kahli's Rocks - unfortunately the event was canceled so we made a crazy drive home again late Saturday night - good to get back to the peace & quiet of the big city.

Saturday Sep 4, 2010 #

Run 32:00 [3] 4.5 km (7:07 / km)
(sick) shoes: Saucony Omni

Kinross Forest at Orange.
It was raining - like most parts of the country today I believe... A really nice looking forest & both Eoin & I were wishing we'd brought our orienteering shoes rather than runners (we'd left them behind so they'd be dry for Sunday's event).
Very wet and slippery downhill just after starting put me off the tracks, so I went off on some paths in the bush, did a section bush bashing before finding some great single tracks. Had lots of fun on those and even wished I'd brought my bike (another, drier time maybe).
Feeling very slow and sluggish, lack of sleep, cold coming on etc, etc.

Wednesday Sep 1, 2010 #

Run 1:15:00 [3] 12.0 km (6:15 / km)
shoes: Saucony Omni

2 Creeks. Went for it a bit of a longer run today as all I will have time for this week.
