Time for Jukola and the third forest-run since 10mila. Got promoted from the 2nd team to first leg in 1st time in the last minute. Really fun to be back starting at jukola again.

Massive feeling starting in fron of 1700 teams, people everywhere warming up. Not so much warm-up heart rate high enough anyway. :-)

Pushed everything I had in the start (HR 178 after just a few minutes running), but a lot of teams passed me to the starting point anyway. Easy first control and good contact with the map, 15s loss when I run in the wrong train over the open area. The following controls were in quite bad terrain in everyone run in one line, so just settled in there not stressing to pass. Full control on the orienteering instead picking my forkings.

Went good until around halfway, where there was an intense forked area. Two forkings on the right side of a dark-green area and my on the other side, went with the group a little too long so had to fight my way through the green. Lost maybe about a minute there. Managed to pick the rest of my controls quite ok, even with people running back and forth in all directions. Were in the second group there, but had short forking on the last control there and got a gap to my group and out on the next bigger marsh I saw a group maybe 45s-1min in front of me. Pushed really hard there, and luckily it were some easier controls (one tv-control for VIPs) so manged to get hold of the back of the group. Picked a few of the guys in the group going home but was never really close to the front. But really nice to finish in the first group anyway, 23th place 1min behind.

Close call a couple of times, but really nice to be able to do a really good race lacking the proper training, especially when in the 1st team.

A good start is important and the rest of team did super-good as well, and never changed more than 1min behind the following 4 stages. Hard fight between us and Kalevan on those stages really fun to watch. Joffe and Oppe on the two last stages didn't have their best days but still good performances. 13min behind the winners are not much, but very tight competition this year which gave us a 17th place..

Last preparation before Jukola (and 2nd forest training since 10mila). Legs not really recovered from yesterday and lack of forest running made it hard. No speed at all but the good thing is that it is almost impossible to miss. I am really well prepared now for the 2nd leg this weekend. :-)

Back to the track to build some speed again. Legs surprisingly good after a week of recovery. Nice group with Johan and Ross today.

10*400m with start every second minute (~50s rest).

Plan was to keep them around 70s and it worked out without problem so that was nice. Half of them a little faster (Johan or Ross in front) and the other around according to plan (me in front)..
