orienteering long 2:39:58 [3] 8.47 mi (18:53 / mi) +677m 15:08 / mi
very long, very tired, my legs hurt
humbled but happy to be done
main takeaways
1 — i’ve been at BAOC for a while i know how to run up hills so i really should not be going around as much as i was; no pain no gain
2 — you’re not going to break your ankle running on slightly uneven ground, stop hopping around like a ballerina and just book it; be more unafraid
3 — even a few min of negative self talk on a route can really impact my willingness to run at all; keep it to a min
++ some gratitude: there were plenty of places i could’ve sustained a rly bad injury and everything seems intact so that’s a slay
i picked up my pace on the second half of the course! got myself out of a really tough mental rut and my mood and speed improved!
i made it back under the time limit! there were a few moments out there where i didn’t believe i would but i did! def improved from my last time here where i did a ~4-5k green in the same time.
this is the longest long i have ever done at an NRE. and i finished!
