Sore throat from yesterday had gotten worse and I really didn't fancy running this. Got myself to the start line and felt a bit better. First couple of uphill legs were ok but then it was into the mist for the rest of the race. <10m visibility in parts, really crazy conditions. Made a few mistakes at the beginning and splits showed I was 3 minutes behind Spongey at number 7. Pulled my act together from then on and whilst I still lost 30s in a lot of places, I never lost really big chunks again and most importantly I found number 20 bang on which leapfrogged me over Spongey and James for the win. More a case of other people making mistakes than my being good but pleased with the result, and with the second half performance. Victory in a long race, what were those boys doing?

First leg with an all star team of Ciaran and Sander to back me up, unfortunately I didn't have the best of runs, big mistake early on then run off the front then another couple of big mistakes and whilst I came back in the lead, the Irish boys were close behind and I hadn't taken the chance to put time into the dangerous boys. Ciaran then twisted his ankle and Sander made a big mistake on one of the last controls so it was not to be.

Strange struggle. Wasn't feeling great before the start but the first bit up the track settled me into it. With little Rob up onto the edge but I pulled a bit of a gap along the edge and was clear from there on. Had a stitch on the decent which had me looking over my shoulder but the gap was enough. Nice race, makes it 3 from 3 for my fell races this year.
