Orienteering 1:20:00 [3]

RMOC O-Fest Day 6 (Day 3 for me)
7.3k, 240m climb = 72:11

I thought I was running much faster today but my per km time is pretty much the same. Oh well.

Orienteering and running conclusions are the same as after ORingen. To orienteer fast it helps to practice navigating and running. I have to live with the consequences of not doing much of either.

All that stuff aside, another enjoyable day. Clouds today, which was especially nice. I like the long running legs and the detailed nav-in-the rocks legs, which is pretty much all the legs, which goes to say I enjoyed the day. I like less the legs where I'm in a brain fog but that is covered in the previous paragraph. I was speedy from the Go to finish control, which is nice.

ps: I hope the bubbles in both my compasses disappear; I don't really feel like buying more compasses.

RMOC O-Fest Day 5 (Day 2 for me)
8.1k, 265m climb = 78:45

Whoops #1: To C3 went way left up the wrong spur. Eventually approached from the SSE.
Whoops #2: Out of C13 I exited with a 90deg error. The extra distance covered wasn't too much but it took a long time for my brain to re-calibrate and get back on track.
Whoops #3: Overran C7 by one little hill and button hooked back.

Otherwise, good nav. I was generally pretty sharp in the control circle. I liked the detailed work in the rocks. The long legs weren't trivial, had to pay to all the reentants and direction. Fun day. Tired though.

Went to the Alibi Bar for pizza and ran into Charlie and the Chicagoans, JP and J. Hall. Also chatted briefly with Danny O.

RMOC O-Fest Day 4 (Day 1 for me)
8.2k, 390m climb = 80:04

AP gave me about 2min in errors that weren't errors but just slowness. That due to lack of O2 and residual fatigue from last weekend -- legs felt wiggly climbing. However, all things considered I think I was moving as well as could be expected.

Nav was good. I had a few slow approaches but not really mistakes. That was fun and satisfying. I did a good job of keeping focus and direction.

Overall, enjoyed running, enjoyed the course, and enjoyed catching up with many folks I haven't seen in a while.

ps: I don't think we climbed nearly the 390m indicated on the clue sheets.

Lift 30:00 [3]

Being the most grumpy and most impatient of the two NTOA representatives, I was released from OUSA AGM duties by the pleasant and friendly NTOA representative. I went to the Laramie Rec. Center and did a bit of lifting. They have a really nice facility.

After that I met up with Melissa and Lukas Trout-Luis in the rec pool for some pool-doodle jousting.

After that was the lasagna dinner. That was pleasant up until the awards started and my grump and impatience flared up.

Run 23:00 [3]

Some of the ski trails on the Neighborhood Birkie Loop have been regroomed (new asphalt). There are still sections requiring high clearance rskis but every bit helps.

Run 30:00 [3]

To escape the evening heat I ran on the indoor balcony track at SMU. It's very hard and my quads are still flat so this was a very unspringy run.

XC Sking 53:00 [3]
shoes: Pursuit

It snowed so I went skiing.

(Balance was quite good for a first ski. The balance exercises I have been doing while watching TV appeared to have paid off.)

Run 10:00 [3]

Then it melted because it is still 94F so I went for a short run.
