Bike 55:00 [3]

Buckley recovery ride = post race, small ring, spin. Around WRL.

No soreness but I'm pretty tired. Brain not working either.

Orienteering 2:00:00 [3]

Long in 1:42:18.

I was a little nervous about what level of energy I would have so I started conservative and tried to just make steady progress. After C10 my nav seemed to be going well so that I had thoughts to start getting more aggressive, but I held back knowing there was still a long way to go. On the way to C12 my mind kept drifting towards the finish and being done; I shouted at myself to focus on one control at a time. Finished pretty tired.

Had some slow approaches and missed C14 (the spur seemed a lot less well-defined and "shallow" in the terrain than I was expecting).

The track from my forerunner is very interesting without even overlaying it on the map. I can see many places where my route was much more zig zaggy and less direct than I had remembered. Useful information.

Finished with a very good result. I always felt in control of my nav. and managed the race well. The AP graph is pretty straight by my standards. Probably my best two day event ever. I've had isolated good races. But this weekend I put together two decent races back to back.

Orienteering 20:00 [3]

Arrived too late yesterday for the sprint/model so we got out early to run around a bit. Legs not speedy.

Orienteering 1:07:00 [3]

WRE middle + (WU/CD).

Felt slow with heavy legs and heavy breathing; a lot of coughing after (bizarre). On the other hand, my nav. was pretty good. I also did a good job of managing distractions and keeping to my own race.

Made a minute error on C8 when I was too far to the right, didn't see the reentrants, and hit the reentrants about 50m beyond. Paused to figure out what was going on and ran back to the control.

On C13 I contoured around from the right but got confused by a number of rock piles and was very slow working my way to the control.

However, as I said above, I minimized distractions, controlled my speed, and implemented my Lans-O (simple routes). The end result was a good race.
