Fun race. I tried to run my own race and manage my own nav w/o getting sucked to much into the pack. On first two loops it worked all except for one control on each loop -- boom! boom! On the third loop I was making up ground but I and a bunch of others, lost time on C4 and C5. They weren't difficult controls, just "pack stupidity." So, some good controls and some bad controls.
I can't tell if I'm making progress. I might be able to cut myself some slack given that I haven't had any real O since the US Champs. But still, way too much sloppiness. Some thinking to do ....
NAOC long at Rocky Ridge. Finished in just under 2hrs.
Tanked C1, sigh... Crossing swamp my plan was to catch on the trail -- missed it and ended up looking too far left; a gap in the rocks looked like the one I was shooting for.
After that I was very conservative on attacking controls and didn't have any control circle booms after that. However, I had major direction issues (kept drifting left) and was at times distracted by other runners. All and all, a bit disappointing.
A magnifier would have been helpful today. I need to start practicing with it so that I am proficient.
Started off well then lost contact on way to C3. Slowed down but was holding it together until C9 with 2 min miss. Then completely lost it on C10 stopping early and to the left. Got going again, albiet slowly, after that. I will start carry a spare lens -- kind of rediculous to come all this way just to have to bumble around with one eye for 4.5 km.
Training course jogging. Out for about 90 mostly walking. Didn't seem to help much in the days to come.

NAOC - Sprint at McMaster Univ.
Didn't feel physically sharp warming up but ran decently enough with a good placing. About 40s in errors mostly in the middle when my concentration lapsed.
