1:43:49 on the course but again forgot to stop my watch when I finished.
It was raining and snowing all morning but the heavy stuff seemed to be done by about noon. I wasn't sure I wanted to go out, but saw enough other people braving the elements that I decided to HTFU and get out there. However, I also decided to wear my puffy jacket which although not waterproof, is water resistant, and gloves and a neck gaiter. I figured I could take off layers if it warmed up but I never did.
Partway to #2 I totally lost track of how many reentrants I had crossed and was very confused about where I was. I think all the driving and stress from the World Games caught up with me and I just spaced. I was actually on a good line to the control but I was so rattled mentally by losing contact that I made myself go carefully down a reentrant to make sure I understood what was going on because things weren't making sense. Partway down it suddenly all came into focus and I was fine from then on.
But, I had lost any motivation to push at all. I decided to leisurely walk the rest of the course. Granted I normally walk anyway, but I wasn't pushing at all and usually I at least try to power walk a bit. The rest of the course went fine although I was a little unsure on my way to #7 that I was where I thought I was but I kept going and finally saw something that verified I indeed was fine. Took a roundabout route to #10 as I tried to find an easy place to cross the creek. Otherwise went pretty much straight everywhere.
A very pretty winter scene as I made my way up the reentrant to #3 - the trees were all covered in ice and snow even though the ground was clear. From a distance I couldn't figure out what I was seeing but as I got close I realized it was just very puffy white snow. It was the only place in the park though where the snow was staying as snow. I guess it was just high enough that it was a bit colder up there.
My arm is still bothering me so I didn't want to do weight and the streets are covered with a sheet of ice so I didn't want to walk them. I'm thinking of getting a treadmill to walk on but that will have to wait until I get home from this trip to Alabama. Anyway, i did 10 minutes on the stair stepper, then 5 minutes of various of things on the step like jogging up and down, going up and over from side to side across it, knee raises with toe taps down, and stuff like that. Then repeated the whole thing. Worked up a good sweat.
