QOC green course.
Interesting outing. #1 and #2 were fine and I was thinking what great woods. I went around on the road (did not want to wade across the creek) to #3 and then stayed high to #4 and it was all great woods. I wasn't particularly fast but I was moving right along. The woods to 5 started getting a little trashy right out of 4 with a lot of deadfall and then after crossing the road and trail the deadfall got a lot worse. But I eventually climbed over everything and made it to #5. I decided to go high to #6 - big mistake. Lots of deadfall. On my way to #7 I started thinking, if I had done Brown I'd be finishing about now. Should have realized that meant I wasn't paying enough attention. Went high again and went right by #7 - not by much but there was some deadfall between me and the control so I didn't see it - and took way too long to sort it out and go back. Luckily the mishung #8 control had been rehung correctly by the time I got to that one but I was pretty beat by then and so it was just a slog. Same to #9 and the finish. Really annoyed by the error at #7 and really, really annoyed I didn't know what to do right away.
It was still good to get out and orienteer.
The best part though was dinner with Valerie and Roger the night before and several sessions of peppering.

2020 version of my Happy New Year course. Not too bad - let my mind wander and then my feet followed suit on the first part of the W but the rest was pretty good.
