hiking 2:07:44 intensity: (14:38 @1) + (30:09 @2) + (48:26 @3) + (31:26 @4) + (3:05 @5) 3.61 mi (35:23 / mi) +364m 26:56 / mi
ahr:118 max:162

Relentless up followed by relentless down. Have wanted to redo this hike for a while and do it not in panic mode like the last time. Talked Dennis into coming with me and we had a nice time. I was surprised by how many people were climbing up and how many were up on the top when we got there. I guess it's a popular hike.

walking 55:00 [3]

Followed by walking Baine after we got back to Dennis's house. Baine has some issues and Dennis is trying to train him to walk calmly. It was reasonably successful but with a couple of episodes of lunging and barking at other dogs.

Event: DVOA Batsto

11 AM

orienteering 1:10:49 intensity: (5 @1) + (1:23 @2) + (13:03 @3) + (43:16 @4) + (13:02 @5) 3.69 mi (19:12 / mi)
ahr:136 max:186

Green course at Batsto. There was general agreement that the map was funky in certain places - many of us were having trouble with our compasses. They had a large controlled burn there last year so the woods were open and we were able to use sections we had to avoid before because of the thick blueberry everywhere. I think this exposed some problems with the base map. But it was still just a fabulous time - I love how I don't have to worry about turning an ankle or breaking myself on rocks since there aren't any. And the recent rain had compacted the sandy soil enough that it wasn't energy sapping like other times.. I actually ran on several legs although I'm out of shape enough that it didn't last for long.

The overnight rain was supposed to clear out by midmorning but it was still misting on me for most of the run. But still glad I made the time to get out there. The open woods won't last long.

cardio 1:00:00 [3]

Class at the gym. It was a substitute teacher and she normally does the boot camp or kickboxing classes so it was a little different - lots of cardio stuff which was great. Really enjoyed it.

strength & stretching 30:00 [3]

Session with Colleen. Mostly arm stuff but finished with a 2 1/2 minute wall sit with 25lb plate in my lap.

trail 47:04 intensity: (35 @1) + (3:05 @2) + (13:00 @3) + (17:50 @4) + (12:34 @5) 2.93 mi (16:04 / mi) +105m 14:27 / mi

Meadow loop with Sandy - lots of short sections of jogging.

Very sore butt from yesterday's training session. I choose to believe that it is getting stronger and helping my knee.

cardio 36:16 intensity: (9 @0) + (10:56 @1) + (11:45 @2) + (9:45 @3) + (3:17 @4) + (24 @5) 0.71 mi (51:04 / mi)

Quick warmup on the treadmill (including a couple of 30 seconds worth of jogging) and then a session with Colleen. These were surprisingly hard and these were as hard as always.
