orienteering race 25:57 [3]

Yellow leg on the winning 8 point DVOA relay team. I made a full minute mistake on #6 which is rather embarrassing; just got turned around out of a control since I came from a different direction than the line. Corrected after about 30 seconds but still. I was able to run the field and last uphill to the finish though and Clem was able to hang onto the lead the Vadim gave him so a fine day.

map hiking 20:00 [3]

Walked a bit of the sprint in the morning just to stretch a bit after the awful travel day.

Note

Was supposed to run the middle at the pig but a travel day from hell got me to Cincinnati in time for dinner and not running. Too bad; I like middle distance the best.

trail (short hill loop) 33:33 [3]

Mind was wandering for most of this so while I didn't feel particularly good the time went by fast.

Note
weight:120lbs

Although that weight looks bad, it's way better than it was a couple of weeks ago! Rough spring weight-wise.

Note

Missed Tuesday TNT again doing school work. And the next few weeks are only going to get worse...

Note

Need to get more disciplined about doing strength/core workouts. At least I have been doing 5-10 minutes of yoga most nights.

Note

As a colleague said, this reminds me of office hours sometimes...

orienteering race 59:25 [3]

Weird day. Probably close to 10 minutes of errors but physically I felt better than I have in a long time. Controls #2 and #7 were right next to each other and so of course I was looking for #7 around where #2 was and nothing was making sense. Finally sorted that out but then followed the line to #6 instead of #3 and was half way there before I realized that. Lost concentration going to #6 and went up the wrong reentrant; figured it out quite quickly and it would have only been a 10-20 second error but then I was very sloppy correcting and lost another minute by not knowing which way to turn after getting into the right reentrant. Bleah. Then had a lot of trouble reading the map at #7 and wasted another couple of minutes.

But I felt so good running that the day felt like a success. And given that I was not getting much sleep and helping out at results, perhaps I have an excuse for not being mentally on top of things.

I still like Brown.
