orienteering race 1:21:23 [3]

Overall a better outing although I made one bone-head error. I punched at 10 which was control #111 and then decided I had been to 11 and should be heading for 12. What made this particularly bone-headed is that I overheard Kristin at the finish telling folks that she had done exactly this same thing. When I realized my error after a bit and headed off to 11 I wasn't exactly sure where I was and it took a while to decide what I was seeing. A shame since these were the nicest and most runnable woods and I was hesitating trying to sort it out. A couple other bobbles in the circle.

But very happy with the two days worth of orienteering especially given how sick I felt Thursday night and Friday morning - I very nearly didn't go at all.

And today (Monday) knees and other joints all feel surprisingly good.

orienteering race 1:38:57 [3] 4.9 km (20:12 / km) +260m 15:58 / km

GreenY course at NEOC. No major errors but a few silly route choices, some hesitation, slow going on the downhills and not much running anywhere. But I had tons of fun and really glad I came.

map hiking 1:00:00 [1]

Field checked the few remaining control sites for the regular courses and then spent a long time trying to figure out what to do with the relay/sprint/sprint-relay. We usually have a relay, but I thought a sprint might be more fun. But, there have been some considerable changes to the terrain - not such a big deal for most courses, but a problem for a sprint. So I spent some time trying to record map updates in case I want to try and redo the map in the area I wanted to use. I'll have to sit down and think about it some more.

I'm not totally happy with the courses, but don't have the time to start over so I think I'll just let them be.

running 51:54 [3]

TNT - with Bob and Jim, 3 miles on the drive. Walked down, 9:55, 9:35, 10:38 for the mile splits, walked the trail up but jogged the road to the corner.

running 1:00 [1]

My sister was in town with her husband who had a business meeting. So I met her downtown and we spent several hours wandering around the parkway museum area, including city hall and up the river drive past boat house row. We threw in a Rocky rendition at the Art Museum steps just because.
