map hiking 1:45:00 [2]

Hanging controls and picking up controls at HVO event at Westmoreland. I'll give it a 2 instead of a 1 since there was lots of climb and it was so hot I sweated buckets.

orienteering race 47:17 [4]

Sprint course at Westmoreland.

swimming 40:00 [3] 1.6 km (25:00 / km)

64 laps. Had to stop momentarily at 55 and work out the cramps starting in my feet and lower calves. Haven't had that happen before; not sure what the problem was. I generally don't kick hardly at all - just use my legs for balance so really odd that they acted up. But a quick massage and the cramping stopped and I was able to finish.

warm up/cool down 23:24 [1]

Walking and a little jogging to get down to Forbidden Drive and then back home.

running 28:22 [3] 3.0 mi (9:27 / mi)

Run along Forbidden Drive; went back to my original out and back loop to try and gauge just where I am in terms of training. Really pleased with this outing - fully expected over 10 min miles and not by just a few seconds either. I tried to find a pace that was pushing it, but something I thought I could hold for 3 miles and I really wasn't sure if I had picked something too high but I managed to keep it going. (half miles: 5:05, 4:46, 4:34, 4:24, 4:48, 4:45)

trail 25:00 [3] 2.0 mi (12:30 / mi)

Probably about 2 miles and probably about 25 minutes. Got down to the end of the block and realized I hadn't put my watch on, started to go back for it, and then decided I didn't really need to know anything it could tell me.

Nice easy jog on the trails, just trying to keep a steady pace on the hills (and in the woods for a bit when I decided to investigate a deer trail that quickly disappeared and I just kept going until I hit another trail). Felt pretty good for not having run in a while.

Note

A great weekend at the Water Gap - lots of really nice people in orienteering.
