Orienteering race (London City Race) 1:05:35 [3] 12.0 km (5:28 / km)
shoes: New Balance Minimus MT10RD

Still with cold this was never going to be a fast time.

Running below race pace the first 9 controls were alright, until 9-10. Thinking I'd sussed out the map snippet from the final details I chose that route to 10, but when I got to the two parallel passages, it bore no resemblance to what I was expecting and I just couldn't see how to get through from where I was standing - no sign of either passage.

For several minutes I stood still, wandered back and forth, scratched my head, trying to work out how the map related to what I was looking at. Just couldn't figure it out. So I jogged back a bit, found a ramp up and eventually found a way through towards 10 on the upper level. By then I'd lost both interest and energy and completed the rest of the course with a rather lacklustre attitude.

(sick)

Was intending to do hills tonight with Gavin, but some last minute design work has come in and I seem to be coming down with Maya's latest germ offering, so the next few evenings are going to be out for training.

Run - Off road long 1:55:00 [3] 25.0 km (4:36 / km) +166m 4:27 / km
shoes: Inov8 Roclite 295

About time I did some long runs, so from Gavin's house in Poole I went up through Upton Country Park, along the Roman road, Castleman Trailway right up to Merley, into Canford Magna on the old driveway, then on to Canford Heath, Dunyeats Rd back to Broadstone and back down the Trailway and through Upton CP again.

Wasn't sure how long this was going to take me. Was hoping it would be more like 90 mins, but I'm happy with just under 2 hours. Quite pleased that I managed to keep going that long without food or water. Proper dark by the time I got back to Upton CP. Almost trod on someone.
