Mostly leg work. Easy on the arms because R shoulder is problematic, although did do 8 pullups (different muscles).

Road Running warm up/down 23:51 [1] 1.1 mi (21:41 / mi) +86m 17:27 / mi

O - competition race (West Point) 1:15:24 [4] 5.28 km (14:17 / km) +264m 11:26 / km

Much improved, focused and had gaiters for leg protection. Took a gu at 40 min as well as at the start and kept energy level way up. No mistakes, but a couple incidents:

Slow going down the steep face to 3, hesitant about slipping and wrecking my quad again. Got tangled in some concertina next to 6 and took a couple minutes to get free. Hesitant locking in on the position of 4, but otherwise good solid routes and splits.

Overall 3rd on Brown X today, much improved over yesterday. Pretty happy about strength going up the hills, need to work generally on speed and confidence bouncing down the hills.

Road Running warm up/down 18:15 [1] 1.16 mi (15:44 / mi) +63m 13:28 / mi

O - competition race (West Point) 2:07:30 [3] 8.51 km (14:59 / km) +327m 12:34 / km

Brown. What a fiasco! Confused at the start, thinking I was looking for a spur rather than a cliff because we went and punched at the start and so the next control was 2 except it really was 1 as you would expect if you thought about it. In any case, I ran straight at it, which took me into some green and down a cliff. Probably should have just run down the road, I think that would have been fastest.

Then going to 6 I wrapped around the cliff spur and turned R instead of L because I was sloppy on figuring out my position as I came around the turn.

Then I went straight coming out of 7 and got into mt laurel and marsh and turned 90 going up onto the wrong pile of rocks and cliffs. That was quite a wander until I bailed and hit a trail, eventually pinning down my position.

So a good 35-40 minutes wasted, admittedly some because I had bare legs and they were getting ripped up. Kind of distracting.

Mix of good legs, 4th - 5th fastest and then some way in the back. A few lessons learned.

A little sloppy at first, had to pace off some distance to determine the scale of the map. Picked up an extra bike trail on the way to 2 and did an extra loop around that area. Then got more focused and went okay except for a detour down the wrong trail going to 5. Found 9 lying on the ground, but fortunately had spiked the location on the spur and saw it lying there.

Took a little longer than expected, but good training. Thanks to Phil for setting it up!
