Note

Sadly, my L thigh is not great today - was sore afterwards yesterday. Will get it sorted this week, happy to kick back for a bit now, then crack on in November. Lazy bastard,.

Fell Race 1:19:05 [4] 9.03 mi (8:45 / mi) +1071m 6:24 / mi
shoes: Inov8 BareGrip

FRAs, Llanberis. Leg 2 with Stu Bond.

Laal Rob did his expected strong showing on 1st, and we were both content to chase rather than lead out. Passed Ilkley quickly and held the small gap that Leeds held until the 1st climb (about 5km in!!) and swiflty moved through them. HBT had a solid lead which we closed a little climbing up but never really threatened. I was more concerned by those behind us as Bingley seemed to be coming through strongly.
Found the ridge quite hard work - the wind made the flats and downs difficult, and my climbing wasn't at its best but dug in and got on with it. Struggled up Moel Eilio but think I was getting a little cold at that point with the wind and rain lashing me. Slight faff on top when I got called to be asked "did the box flash" when I dibbed. Course it ruddy did! Anyway, was looking forward to the descent and we ran a good pace the whole way down, and pulled away from Stu in the rough only to be smoked down the road in front of the spectators! Came in 2nd, having lost a minute to a strong HBT pair, but more importantly, put time into who we thought would be our main opposition on the nav leg. Only Bingley (Holmes/Jebb) and Helm (Addisons) were a min quicker so 4th fastest, happy enough seeing as I my gut instinct on finishing was that Iv run better.
OJ, Lloyd and Jonesy finished the job, happy days. Probably even better was the second team claiming 3Rd! Real strength in this Dark Peak squad. Big up to my boys in the Pennine massif for their outstanding 5th place too.
A very good weekend, also got a house in Keswick sorted for the winter. Now, where can I buy some cross country spikes....

Out for a much needed loosener over most of leg 2 with Baba, Adam and Alfie. Weather turned shit very quickly, but carried on anyway. Wasn't nice, but then the usn came out and all was well again. Didn't feel brilliant but was loosening up. L thigh still not 100% but not problematic as such. Pete's Eats was good.

Rannerdale yogging. L thigh has been damaged by yesterdays exertions. Should be ok though.

Few minutes rolling warm up then tempo from the fell gate to Whiteless summit, and swift descent. Up in 24.10 (inc warm up, a PB I think). Moving pretty well, expecting good things Sunday.

Note

Had an MOT with Jo Gillyon today. Her verdict - my hamstrings and lower back are awful. Rest not bad really.

Red Pike tempo. Moving well, feeling sharp. Might even be a pb to the top, who knows.

A couple were worried I was cold on the trot down. Its actually quite nice today I said!
