Day 5 - another early start just because. Horribly cold and drizzly along the rail trail. Had a bit of a melt down when I got poo all over my leg and bike :( stopped for a snack and cheered up a bit. Very hot and sunny over the hills and back to Omarama. Nice bit of riding in this part. Rail trail sucks.

Day 4 - an early start to avoid all the traffic on the highway through the Kawarau. Cycle trail to begin (lots of bunnies!!!) then the road, then cycle trail again to Bannockburn. Pylon track through to Clyde, coffee stop and rail trail to Omakau.

Day 3 - Out of Meg Hut and along the ridge to the Crown Range road. Beautiful day and great riding. Getting used to all the gear on the bike and going well. Down into Arrowtown for iced coffees then onto the Fornes for the night.

Day 1 of the bike tour. Started in Omarama. Some nasty busy highway out to the Ahuriri then good quiet gravel until the start of the Melina Ridge track. A challenging ride with all the touring gear but good training. Just rideable hills unfortunately.

Back out onto the highway for a bit then a new easement through a pylon road. The Doc brochure insisted this was a real thing as did some hunters we met. Camped up on the Doc land.

The farmer didnt seem so sure that we were allowed to be in there. Lots of locked gates and deer fences making for challenging progress. Didnt get yelled at though and was a great way to avoid the main road.
