Heights of Winter with Lara. Hakatere (Mystery Lake)

Was pretty keen to do well at this race and test out how things were before Worlds. We planned a good route I think which ended up being about the right distance. We made some adjustments along the way which were all sensible and ended up dropping out about 5-6k but adding in another 3 or so for easier points.

Went through a few low points when I hadnt been eating but otherwise felt pretty good. Lara and I seemed to be reasonably evenly matched today and we shared the navigation well.

Things went to crap at the end and we lost 120pts as a result but that was because we were risking it and unfortunatley made a relatively small navigational mistake. The margin for error was too low and we got punished. O well, I'm still kind of happy that we gambled for it and were pushing for points right to the end.

Havent measure yet but think our route was around 58k straight line.

Looking forward to Aus now. Things to improve on:
- Eating!!
- Pushing harder in middle third. Ran lots in the first and last four hours but got lazy in the middle.
- Drinking!!

Token effort wednesday-night-run because it was nice and warm out and I wanted to check out the film set. Legs feeling pretty smashed but two days off ahould do it.

This was probably a mistake as now I will be too tired this weekend but just kind of felt like running fast.

The usual Huntsbury loop with Dave. Felt like hard work up the hill to begin with but was all good after that. No problems with achilles or calves.

Run 1:30:00 intensity: (45:00 @2) + (45:00 @4)

From home to the top of Bowenvale, down Moguls and Bridges then back up the old downhill to Huntsbury. Round through the tussocks and home down Lava Flow.

Pushed hard up Bowenvale and the zigzag and just cruised the rest. 27:25 to the top from home.
