Norwegian ultra-long champs at Eggemoen. Goal was to run around 3h, if I had a good day. Good start in flat, fast, pine forest, felt I had good control and ran cheap. Terrain changed to classic Norwegian on a sidehill. Had a lot of trouble here and lost ~2mins on 5. Another 1 min on 6 and I should have realized that my technique wasn't working. Ran off the map to 7, passed under the powerline without noticing which marks the edge of the map. Things made some sense in the beginning, but eventually I bailed north to try to relocate off the powerline. Eventually realized I was already north of the powerline. Lost nearly 10 minutes here.
Terrain change back to the fast stuff and managed to keep good speed (4:05 on the GPS on roads/trails). Ran well for about an hour. Started to get tired after 2 hours of running. Tried to maintain the speed, but by 2:30 I was in survival mode. Ran the last 7k probably a good 1.5 min/km slower than earlier.
18th place overall, definitely my longest hard race ever. I think without the 15mins lost in the hillside it would have been a pretty super race for me.
