Kjempesprekken ("mega-bonk") race in Nordmarka. Hiked for half an hour from the parking lot to a cool club hut far into the woods. Then an 18.8km mass-start partner race, with food after 12km. Team Kip&Gebr had high hopes for a good placing in this epic race. Stayed in a nice pack of 4 teams for the first 4 controls. Went right onto the road to #5, got to #5 at exactly the same time as another team going left. Pulled away going to #6 and got a 1/2 min lead.
Fell going out of #8, and my lower quad landed on a small stump. Hurt like hell, and changed our route so I could run it off on the road. Then I wasn't paying attention on the orienteering, and we lost 10 minutes on controls 9-11. Saw three teams blow by.
We underestimated how long the second loop was, and didn't stop for long enough to refuel properly at the hut. Poor Mathias went on a kjempesprekk, which didn't help when I kept getting us lost.
Made it to the finish and destroyed Louise's team by... nearly 14 minutes, a big improvement over the last 3h race I did against her (Lynn Valley Score-O).
Nipen brothers will be back next year.
