Orienteering 1:33:09 [3]
shoes: vj's

Best area of the week, much more open woodland, but still very technical with oodles of detail & rock features. More or less uphill course. Bollocksed by the end!
Not quite sure how I ballsed this time, but I did (& only on 1 control!!).
Map to follow....

What a tough week of orienteering - physically & technically, but I've loved the challenge, & the results haven't bothered/interested me at all (after day 1 I never looked at them).
Frustrated with the 4 mistakes that I didn't stop costing me so much time, but I haven't exactly orienteered much this year, certainly not in technical terrain like this, & it was reassuring to see the GPS routes of the WOC runners as they ballsed, too (at least I didn't run off the map!!).
Watching WOC has been an amazing week, can't wait for WOC2015, and so proud of Hols for her attitude to her orange with a hint of light green courses thru the week!

God, that was tough, and some wasp stings thrown in, to boot.
The wasp stings should never have happened - the nest was between 6 & 8, but nowhere near 7, and I'd just moved off the elephant track to let some snorting M?? past when he stood on the nest & ran away, leaving me to fight off a swarm of angry wasps. My bottom is big, and slows me down (according to Holly) - they found it!
The M21Bs had a light green course that was shorter than the W35, Stodge, Iain & even Kelvin were out for less than half my time!!

Orienteering 1:23:39 [3]

A technical start on the map for the long finals, but a run back thru' the fields for the last 2km or so to finish with, that was hot, hot, hot!

"Middle" race!!!
One mistake where I was as lost as I can remember being since I was a W17 in the Trossachs. Lost ~17-18 minutes within 50-100 metres of the control before I finally relocated correctly (it's no good relocating incorrectly, I found out!!).
At least I wasn't out for 3.10.39, though!

Note

Rest day for us, sprint day in Aix & Chambery. Awesome atmosphere!!!
After spending the day at the bottom of the mountain, I'm very glad we are competing in the cool high 20's at the top!!!

Note

Too much pear & apple juice after yesterdays run, awake all night with gripey stomach ache, & neither bowels nor brain in a fit state to orienteer.
Turns out I picked a good day to miss - was rough & tough by all accounts, but I can't afford to drop any other days now.
