Running 1:02:36 [2] 7.75 mi (8:05 / mi) +135m 7:40 / mi

Forecast had a rainier afternoon that morning, so did a run in Portland instead of Seattle. First two miles with Tom, then around the rest of the Springwater loop by myself. Left hammie a bit tight by the end.

Then drove 3h north to Seattle, said hi to Eric B. and scampered downtown for the American Astronomical Society conference. Here goes trying to get workouts in while conferencing!

Running 56:26 [2] 5.21 mi (10:50 / mi) +403m 8:44 / mi

Made it back to Portland and had Stephi and Eric visiting for a day! Had a lazy start to the morning with blueberry muffins, then opted to go across the Williamette and do a short hike to check out the potential view from the high point of Council Crest. (Nope, cloudy.)

I mostly ran while Stephi, Eric and Tom hiked. Fun trails, lotsa climb! Legs still tired, but not sore. Hamstring behaved.

Lunch at Freshii downtown (chili is amazing after a misty 40-degree workout!) then back for a nap, tour around Reed and the neighborhood. Evening featured Steph + Eric veggie curry and an hour or so of playing the card game red 10s. I think Tom and I were catching up with the rules by the end of it. Totally fun!

Running 14:28 [1] 1.58 mi (9:09 / mi) +1m 9:08 / mi

Last east-coast run. Scooted out from Patti and James's apartment with Tom for a run along the Bronx River trail. Was nice and windy and without having to cross roads for a good chunk of time.

Drills 8:45 [1] 0.57 mi (15:21 / mi)

Normal running drills x 3

Running 39:07 [2] 4.6 mi (8:30 / mi) +48m 8:14 / mi

And a bit more of the run on my own. Did some 30s pickups, but legs are pretty tired, so didn't push too hard. At the far end, went up a hill by fancy-pants houses.

Running race 25:25 [4] 4.02 mi (6:19 / mi) +40m 6:08 / mi

Midnight Run in Central Park

This year, not having done a ski-o in the morning, I opted to actually race the race. Went out kinda with the elite women, but after they kept up the sub 5:30 pace for more than the first 200m, I dropped off the back and did my own thing, which was apparently to run slower and slower until the finish.

Not pleased with the race, but whatever, training does matter and hopefully I can get more solid training in the next few months. On a good note, hamstring wasn't troubled at the end, so maybe it's recovered from this acute bout of complaining. Still will have to put back in hamstring strengthening to the weekly regime!

Core with Tom

Strength 2:52 [1]

Hammies! 3 x 7s. Got it started, now to blow up my exercise ball at home so I can continue.

Running 27:56 [2] 3.5 mi (7:59 / mi)

And more on the treadmill. Legs starting to be tired from last night.

Crosstrainer 4:54 [1]

The floaty skier machine thing for just a bit while Tom finished his lifts.

Running 9:00 [1] 1.0 mi (9:00 / mi)

Went to Patti and James's snazzy gym in White Plains. This was an easy warmup on the treadmill.

Running 21:28 [1] 1.53 mi (14:02 / mi)

Warmup for the Midnight Run in Central Park. Snuck into the elite tent, warmed up, pranced around and was totally in awe of the actually elite women who still chose to run in mini-shorts in 20 degree weather... I had well-clad legs to keep the hammies happy.

Hm, can't access the entry for Jan 1, yet, probably because log is on West coast time... (Edit: nope, because I put the workout in 2014!)
