Running 1:03:51 intensity: (20:00 @1) + (43:51 @2) 7.75 mi (8:14 / mi) +93m 7:57 / mi

First two miles with Tom, then the rest on my lonesome. So cold! Should have worn a jacket instead of just a vest.

Yay! First ski of the season! Up at Galena summit. Kinda solid/icy/bobbly, but really fine for a first ski!

We outfitted Tom first with skate boots and my skate skis, but his feet don't like skate boots or skiing. They cramp up just a few minutes in. So he switched to classic and then we did a 7k loop, with me kinda flitting backwards and forwards to stay together. One big hill that a good challenge, did it 2.5 times and definitely noticed the altitude!

XC skiing 40:58 [2] 6.69 mi (6:07 / mi) +173m 5:40 / mi

After an amazing lamb burger, hit the trails again for an afternoon ski. We did the same loop as some other members of Tom's extended family, but in opposite direction so we met up with them after 17 minute or so and turned around and headed back with them. They're the Maine/Boise contingent of the family so kinda knew what they were doing and they were impressed Tom could keep up after just a year of skiing - woo! =)

Then one last hilly 3.5k loop to finish off the tired-leg day!

Running 11:09 [2] 1.41 mi (7:55 / mi) +6m 7:48 / mi

Over to Hailey, ID for a Turkey Trot 5k. This was a little warmup around town, checking out the beginning of the trail section that they said would be icy.

Running race 19:14 [4] 3.08 mi (6:15 / mi) +14m 6:09 / mi

Hailey Turkey Trot 5k!

Wow, that was maybe the most awkward start to a 5k ever. Everyone was just milling about this square, not at all ordered or even facing the right direction, then the horn blew. I went around the ski shop one way, other people cut another way, but it worked out ok after about 200m anyways.

Then! The snowy/icy section. Icebugs would have been awesome for this part, as it was, always looking for the bits of the trail that looked like they would give some traction. I kinda liked this part, but it was definitely different. One guy lost his Yaktrak and had to go back for it!

Ok race, although didn't feel very strong. Then again, it was at 5500 ft or so, so between that and the ice, perhaps not so bad. Still, wimpy for a Turkey Trot compared to the Poughkeepsie options of a hilly 5 mile or 16 mile!

Running 5:48 [1] 0.59 mi (9:50 / mi) +6m 9:31 / mi

Cool down and cheering the rest of the Scofield family in. Winning resulted in a new little LED headlamp and pair o'socks!

Little morning loop before taking off for Thanksgiving! Much lighter starting only 15 min later, plus did have a headlamp this time anyways.

Admin committee canceled again, so had time to go home while still late and go for a neighborhood jog with Tom! Today's lecture was on galaxy mergers.

Monday morning early run. Huh, really should have had a light for this one. Even doing the loop backwards the bike path was still totally dark when I got there.
