Orienteering race 51:15 [4] 6.9 km (7:26 / km) +145m 6:43 / km

Harvester, Leg 4, Merythyr Common (not sure that's spelled right)

Had a really good run around. Only control I seriously bobbled was two before the spectator, think my direction intuition was a bit screwed up by having left the previous control wrong... Was fun chasing down some reasonably good juniors and one guy that started in the minute in front of me. Was happy I stayed focused on my navigation though, I always ended up at my control, not the other gaffle.

And very happy I could orienteer decently on tricky terrain! I think I have the fastest time for this leg, but final results aren't up yet.

OUOC just pipped by the SYO women in the end, after Anne made up major time on the last leg- exciting!

Running 9:30 [3]

Warm up run with Jon *up* the hill to the race start. Contemplating that I wasn't feeling particularly in uphill shape...

Orienteering 40:51 [4] 4.5 km (9:05 / km)

Middle distance race. Really, really good fun. I liked extended-control-pick attitude of the course, never got bored. Ran past the second control and a bit iffy on some others, but pretty good orienteering, although Anne stormed around in 4 min less- impressive!!!!

Cycling 1:30:00 [1] 24.0 mi (3:45 / mi)

Out to Southmoor to the time trial headquarters, picked up number, said hi to James and Vicki, got a brief lowdown on what I was actually doing, then headed over to the start, *just* in the nick of time, 1.5 minutes before my own start (others were all in a nice orderly queue waiting).

And the way back, after the time trial, luckily *with* the wind.

Cycling race 26:45 [4] 10.0 mi (2:41 / mi)

10 mi A420 Southmoor Timetrial

First ever cycling time trial! Was super windy, and I didn't have aerobars, so probably not quite as quick as I would have been otherwise. But don't think it's that bad of an effort, bit unsure as I've never done it before.

There were seriously few women, maybe the worst of any race of any type I've been to in ages. There were 47 entrants, only 6 were female. Girls don't like bikes? Or don't like timetrialling specifically? Maybe timetrialling really appeals to folks that really like pimping out their bikes, which fewer women are into?

Running 46:47 [2]

OUOC club run = Caroline and me.... not an amazing turn out, but first time I've been in ages!

But a good run- up Headington Hill, then Marston Ferry. Nice to catch up with her and have the company!

Running 30:00 [1]

Squeezed in little run right before departments colloqium. Back at 4.05, showered and paying attention in the lecutre theatre by 4.15. Hair had to wait til afterwards for a brushing.

Running 12:00 [1]

Woo! Finally have watch back with new strap from Debenhams- just took 3 weeks. So annoying not to have had a split timer!

But, the engravers was closed so couldn't give them the 5 trophies that need engraving. =) At least Scott took the quick-turnaround one of my hands- Harvester comes this weekend!

And still ill, but feeling less miserable to breathe whilst running... just a little jog around New College fields after errands before circuits.

Strength 52:00 [1]

Club circuits- staring the summer group seems like... fewer folks around. In squash court no. 3 for the first time- something about keys?

My head hurt with a lot of the exercises (the ones that involve swinging your head around), I blame the illness!
