Running long 2:30:00 [1]

Tried to run up a mountain on the other side of the valley. It took 55 minutes just to get to the trailhead, and I just went up a half hour because I didn't actually want to be gone all day. There was also some sort of warning sign in Japanese- I didn't know what it said, so I decided that was a good time to turn around! Went into town on my way back to pick up food, but the supermarket is closed becaue it's Sunday. Boo.

Running warm up/down 1:12:00 [2]

Extended warm-up and down for my hills session. Gorgeous weather, took lots of photos of the surrounding mountains, and one of them looks like a volcano- it looks like pictures I've seen of Mt. Fuji, but I don't think I'm near it...

Running hills 15:00 [5]

Hard hill intervals. 4, 3, 4, 4 minutes, with lots of recovery. Definitely felt the altitude- I just couldn't be a springy as normal and I was breathing really, really hard.

Running 1:05:00 [3]

First run in Japan! Went up the nearest mountain to the telescope where I'm staying. It's a small down-hill ski mountain that still had snow on the trails, so I went up under the lift. (Most of this was actually walking. It was very steep. And at altitude.) I found a trail along the ridge at the top and came down it instead of tumbling down the mountain.

Strength (Core) 14:00 [2]

13 min core plus a few push ups

Orienteering race (Relay) 40:32 [4] **** 5.2 km (7:48 / km) +110m 7:03 / km
22c

First leg of the Women's Trophy category in the JK Relay. I made a good route choice, but then doubted myself because everyone else went the other way, so I turned around and went back that way after going my way for around 30 seconds. Definitely a stupid move! Made a few other mistakes (mistook a marsh for a pond, a large dark-green covered earthbank for a small light-green covered one, and a depression on the top of a hill for one at the bottom), but those were all under-30 second mistakes, so still fine for me!

I was 9th of the first leg women to finish.
