Hey, look at this! A longer run! On trails! With a buddy! Noel's wife Lauren invited me to go run with her (recovering from injuries, but a good enough runner to have gone to Olympic trials in marathon). We did this good trail loop at quite a good clip. And body seems fine with it, woo! Hopefully we'll get out there upcoming Thursdays... Day care drop off becomes a half hour earlier next week, so hopefully can get there with a little less traffic than I experienced today. Forest Park is awesome!

Did one mile pretty hard and ran a 6:13/mi and did another a little more chill and uphill at 6:38/mi. Glad I didn't loose all fitness I've been working toward with the recent-ish illness + kinda crappy training recently. Hoping for at least no more severe day care bugs...

Woo! 20k skate up at Teacup! Hard work, snow was slow, so more like a running race where the effort is much more constant than the typical ski races with harder ups and recovery downs. Mostly skied alone, one person passed me on faster skis at the end of the second (of 4) laps, and then I lapped people, but other than that just kinda out there.

First woman by a bunch, but the women who were first and third at the classic race earlier weren't around, so not tons of competition.

Wow. Well, got really quite sick with the cold that Martin brought home. Now I understand why he was waking up every 15-30 min all night one night - a really sore throat that he couldn't tell us about is my guess based on my own symptoms more recently!

So I've had no voice the past 3 days. Luckily on Wed I had a quiz planned for class anyways, but I just canceled lecture this morning. I don't think my students were too disappointed, everyone is just really tired and needs spring break (one more week away)!

Hoping to re-start training this weekend. But main goal remains getting healthy and trying to make sure this doesn't induce asthma like some past bad colds have. If it does and I need inhalers, then I need a TUE to race so that I'm not doping...

Hah! Martin *only* woke up at 10pm, midnight, 3am and 5am. Much improved from every-hour or even sub-every-hour of previous two nights. (Did I make much sense in lecture on Friday?) Of course, Sylvia was woken up by the 3am wake up and then was super-duper awake 3:30-4:30 am.

In any case, everyone was asleep at 5:30am when I got up, so I did 4 min of core while the water for much-needed coffee heated up. And then I wrote up solutions to the practice quiz for my students before the kiddos woke up.

I do seem to have caught the kids' cold, but hopefully it won't be so bad!

Felt good, but not like pushing it for intervals/tempo today. Fitness is coming back, I don't need all the speed right now, but it would be good to be getting in just a bit more mileage than I currently am... will keep trying to find the time!
