Orienteering 1:02:15 [1] 3.95 mi (15:46 / mi) +3m 15:43 / mi

More scouting at Champoeg state park. Nice cool temps to be out in and fun to be orienteering! Figured out how to lock my iPad orientation, which was great, but there was no way my compass wanted to work properly around both my iPad (with it's magnetic case) and my iPhone (around for taking GPS coords for Sporteering), so I pretty much gave up on using it.

Vegetation is hard to keep up with at Champoeg. Depends *heavily* on how the state park decides to mow, or not, for a year or two. Unmowed = 4m high blackberry bushes which are completely unpassable (although feature tasty berries this time of year!)

Running 41:25 [1] 2.59 mi (16:00 / mi) +60m 14:55 / mi

Camping for two nights for the first time this summer! Back at Lost Creek on Old Maid Flat, which we like. A chill campsite, not a party zone. Did this run along Lost Creek which kinda has a trail next to it. Don't think it's maintained by anyone, no markings, no clearing of blowdowns, occasionally wearing away at the creekside edge.

Had just gotten far enough to be on the orienteering map I had when it was time to turn around.

Sylvia had a blast both playing in the Sandy River for a bit in the morning and playing some woods-soccer game that she made up as we played it later on in the day. She does do a good job wriggling out of her sleeping bag. The first night, I ended up covering her up with my fleece, the second night we started her wearing her jacket and she stayed warm enough.

Running 25:56 [1] 2.43 mi (10:40 / mi) +62m 9:53 / mi

Hah, Sylvia let me go for a morning run by myself! She stayed home and did some Cosmic Kids yoga. And apparently helped Tom get a splinter out of his foot. At least that was the report upon my return.

Note

Made spinach-ricotta calzones! One of the first times properly cooking since my morning-sickness misery showed up. Because if everything smells *gross* and makes you want to puke, cooking is pretty much impossible. Glad to be able to again!

Stroller jog/run 28:44 [1] 2.55 mi (11:16 / mi) +53m 10:35 / mi

Morning stroller jog. A little longer than past ones! Sooo exciting that I can sleep through the night now without nausea. It is so awesome! That was 9 weeks of getting up 3-4 times a night most nights. Ug.

Orienteering 40:33 [1] 1.99 mi (20:22 / mi) +11m 20:02 / mi

Testing control sites at Champoeg for what will be CROCs second socially-distanced meet! Did this with an iPad, which was great for taking notes on small needed map edits and writing the control description I want. Except I need to figure out how to not have it re-orient itself to always north-up. That was annoying.

Running 1:58 [1] 0.14 mi (14:04 / mi) +1m 13:44 / mi

Running to go find S+T after I finished. Luckily they were not far. =)

(sick)

Took Sylvia to Mary S. Young park in the morning to go swimming again. And when we got there - lots of backpacks on the beach, no people in sight. Then a flotilla of swimmers came out of downriver shepharded by two coaches on SUPs. They then landed on our beach and did some drills. Sylvia tried to copy some of them, which was pretty cute!

And... I slept through the night without needing to get up to eat!!! This is the first time I've slept through the night since week 6 of pregnancy. It's now week 15, so 9 weeks of getting up *multiple* times a night to eat some food that I don't feel like eating, so I won't be too nauseous to sleep.

Lead lining of this silver cloud - I ate *most* of two bowls of cereal when I got up, but didn't keep them down. =( Didn't feel nauseous until 30s before throwing up, so very little warning it was going to happen. Should have stopped at only 1 bowl of cereal.

Cold is nearly gone. It moved from nose to upper throat. Respiratory pathways all feel better today, although I'm coughing up lots of gunk. Luckily the cold hasn't triggerd my asthma yet, hoping it stays that way!

Note
(sick)

Got a cold. Unfun. But my longest track record of not-sick in a veeery long time. Am not allowed on campus, understandably. Definitely from Sylvia, her whole class at daycare have had it!

Stroller jog/run 21:41 [1] 1.96 mi (11:04 / mi) +46m 10:18 / mi

Another pre-daycare stroller jog! So nice and cool these mornings.

Still waking up multiple times a night to quell the hunger-nausea:
11:30pm - berry cereal
2:00am - Cheerios
3:30am - yogurt
but then got to sleep until 6am!

Stroller jog/run 21:52 [1] 1.94 mi (11:16 / mi)

Sylvia woke up early, so we had time to get a stroller jog in before heading to daycare. Nice and cool, ~52F in the morning! Saw the peacocks both on the way down and up 52nd ave hill!

Note

Went to Mary S. Young park in the morning for a little hike + play at the beach. Water in the Willamette was surprisingly warm! Sylvia had a blast running and splashing around. So nice to get some water time in even with all the pools closed!

Hiking 34:46 [1] 1.24 mi (28:02 / mi) +136m 20:54 / mi

Mt. St. Helen's hike to June Lake and back! (Aerial photo on GPS track is pretty cool.) We basically hiked right to the edge of the mud flow from previous eruption, which dammed this little lake, June Lake. It's pretty cool - 3 waterfalls fell into it over a cliff. And the water was very, very clear. (Glacier cold.)

Sylvia hiked maybe a third of the way up? And a little ways down, before she demanded to be put in the carrier because she was tired. She did fall pretty immediately asleep...

Not crowded and was nice and cool at altitude!

Note

A truly terrible night. And just feeling pretty nauseous during the day. =( I wish this were a monotonic improvement! Theory: I worked out 'too' much yesterday: stroller jog + bike to/from campus x 2 because I forgot keys + walk to lunch to get food. Maybe that's just too much and depletes whatever reserves keep me not nauseous? Still trying to figure this out. Maybe it's hopeless and I'm just in the hands of whatever these hormones want to do to me...

Stroller jog/run 19:05 [1] 1.82 mi (10:29 / mi)

Sylvia was having a meltdown about me putting stain remover on her (apparently favorite) blue flowery dress she wore yesterday and then putting it in the laundry machine (if I put it in the hamper, she would have dove in after it). So I told her I was going running, she then wanted to come with me in the stroller. That's fine, gets me in a run before daycare even opens and calmed her down a lot. Afterwards, we raided the hand-me-down box in the garage and found a new-to-her denim jumper and polo shirt from Hawaii. Totally don't go, but it was a win just getting her dressed today!

Stayed around the flats around the top of the hill as I didn't feel like pushing S + stroller up. Nice and cool.

----
I didn't have to eat between 9:30pm and 3:30am last night! I think that's my longest streak since 'morning' sickness started. Was a little touch-and-go at 3:30am, but managed to get food in without throwing up!

Tuesday Aug 4, 2020 #

Note

Just can't escape the nausea... forgot to take vitamin B6 in today and was nauseous as of lunchtime, so threw up lunch. Bummer. 4 more weeks until classes start, really hope I'm better by then!

Running 22:12 [3] 2.06 mi (10:47 / mi)

We went straight from the campsite to daycare drop-off and got there with maybe 3 min to spare! So glad we remembered to pack her lunch and everything!

Got home and decided I might as well get in a little jog before showering up. Still nice and cool in the morning!

Note

Camping at Lost Creek! A wonderful little spot on Mt. Hood. In the walk-in zone, so tents only. Very peaceful. Our first night away from home since March or February (Bend ski-o)! And it wasn't too miserable with overnight-morning sickness, just had to wake up twice and eat overnight - first time cereal, second time bagel + cream cheese.

Running 1:00:01 [1] 4.89 mi (12:16 / mi) +92m 11:36 / mi

Did a challenge! Ran for an hour within 1km of home. Given how slow I am now, it really didn't require much effort to find a good way to get to an hour... happy to have done another challenge, but I paid for it when I threw up my dinner. Guess still a bit too much... Or maybe not the right refueling/rehydrating afterwards, but I tried to go gradually and thought I'd be ok by dinner!
