Running 1:08:29 [2] 9.09 mi (7:32 / mi)

Long run - Springwater to Sellwood Bridge then north to park and turned around at about 4.5 at the park parking lot. Felt pretty good, cold and rainy though.

Note

Gr. Didn't get the long run in today. Rescheduled for tomorrow. Various things ate up the daylight hours of the day and cutting into dark would have also been cutting it close with daycare pick-up, so didn't....

Running 45:00 [2] 6.0 mi (7:30 / mi)

Rainy run that Strava failed to record the beginning of. So estimated (fits pace of what I did for the last 4.5 miles it recorded, at least). Did a nice loop involving some chill parts of Milwaukie. Could be made a bit longer by coming back around to the bike path at the E end.

Then sopping wet so changed top at least before Pilates!!

Strength 35:00 [1]

Pilates. Yay having someone tell me what to do for core strength. But do like this instructor, others do too at least as evidenced by class attendance!

Ate double soup at cafeteria after a hot shower, because rainy run = cold.

Running 38:10 [2] 4.3 mi (8:53 / mi)

And got intervals in!
1 lap, 2 x 2 lap, 1 lap around Reed track. Just before dusk. Or maybe at dusk, but not yet dark.

Monday Nov 26, 2018 #

Note

Ok, so succeeded in last week's goal of >4 runs (did 5) of >4 mi and one run >6 mi, so good on that! But didn't do my core on my own W and F. =(

I've entered a half-marathon for early Jan, so time to extend the long runs bit by bit.

This week:
Pilates M + W, Circuits F: >4 mi runs before 2 of these
Intervals Tu
> 8 mi run Thurs
Orienteering Sat
Cyclocross Sun

Strength 45:00 [1]

Monday Pilates.

Running hills 37:49 intensity: (30:19 @1) + (7:30 @4) 4.2 mi (9:00 / mi)

Dusk, but time to get it in! A few hill repeats on 42nd. A decent hill to do it on, but some traffic, so somewhere else might be better. Or lower traffic time of day.

Saturday Nov 24, 2018 #

Running 1:11:23 [2] 7.4 mi (9:39 / mi) +133m 9:08 / mi

Legs still tired from the race, but time to get out there (motivated by the team call in the morning). Got my > 6 mi run in for the week!

Thursday Nov 22, 2018 #

Running warm up/down 24:00 [1] 2.4 mi (10:00 / mi)

Running race 26:30 [4] 4.0 mi (6:38 / mi)

`Fun run' turkey trot at the zoo. Which means no results, you're just supposed to look at the clock when you cross the line. It was something like 26 minutes...

First woman, but yeah, a fun run. Didn't feel super fast. Was a hilly course.

Went back afterwards to help Tom get the stroller up the hills! Sylvia was *totally* out napping for the whole race. We woke her up to do the diaper dash, which she didn't quite understand, but trotted and was carried for sections of the course (a good 200m or so!). She did enjoy the animal crackers at the end at least!

Wednesday Nov 21, 2018 #

Running 48:00 [2] 5.7 mi (8:25 / mi)

Whoops! Got about a mile away from campus and remembered I was supposed to meet with a student 4 min ago (not our normal meeting time because T-day week). So emailed him mid-run and then booked it back to my office to talk galaxies.

Ah well. At least he's a student I know well and has come orienteering a few times. And we did get all the meeting in we needed anyways.

Still have so. much. grading.

Monday Nov 19, 2018 #

Note

Ok, mostly succeeded in last week's goals. This week:

- Monday Pilates
- 10 min of core *on my own* both W and F
- 4 days of at least 4 mile runs, with at least one run of over 6 miles

Running 33:36 [2] 4.1 mi (8:12 / mi)

And first > 4 mile run in! Nice sunny day. Rain apparently starts on Wed, so gotta soak it in.

Cycling race 40:08 [3]

Third cyclocross race. Funtimes! Actually felt like I was racing this time because the course wasn't crazy technical and I wasn't spending all the time just getting my feet in and out of the pedals! Finished in 8th out of 21, 3 min back from the winner in the women's singlespeed division, 2 min back from 2nd.

We brought Sylvia so she could take notes on the little tykes with bikes on the Kiddiecross course. She played a bunch on her in-house quadcycle afterwards, woo! But her legs are still too short to give the outdoor pedal-less bike a try...

Cycling warm up/down 8:00 [1]

Saturday Nov 17, 2018 #

Running 40:00 [1] 3.1 mi (12:54 / mi)

After STEMGems brunch at Lewis & Clark, went for an easy run around the Riverview trails, since I was right there. They were gorgeous and much, much, much drier than last time I went. I succeeded in running 3 miles in my Toms (forgot actual running shoes), while last time I fell several times in trail shoes, slipping around.

Aerobics 45:00 [2]

Friday circuits!

Thursday Nov 15, 2018 #

Running 21:35 [3] 2.08 mi (10:23 / mi)

Little lunch joggeroo. Trying to cautiously come back from the great sore throat illness. Breathed through my nose the whole time so as to irritate the throat less and took it super-duper easy. Nice to get out on a nice fall day!

Last day of lab! I have learned *so* much electronics this semester. Hopefully my students have too... just last set of 21 lab reports to grade and I am much more free!!

Also lectured on the Horizon Problem and Flatness Problem of our Universe and why they point to inflation today. Always piques the curiosity...

Strength 50:00 [1]

Woo! Pilates round 2 for the week. Really did a lot of ab work at the beginning. Great to get in, I'm crap at doing it on my own.

Crosstrainer 10:00 [1]

10 min on the super-elliptical, stayed in to breathe warm air.

Monday Nov 12, 2018 #

Note

Ok, mission this week:
- get better from cold/upper respiratory tract infection
- go to Pilates at least once, hopefully twice
- run at least twice during the work week (after throat feels better)
- circuits Fri

Strength 40:00 [1]

Got to Pilates because Andrew's turn at lab lecture, so no need to rehearse during lunch! Circuits that intentionally saturate OpAmps this week...

Had to leave early to eat a smidge of lunch though. Good to do and unlike the last Fri's circuits and Sat's cyclocross race, don't think it hurt the throat.

Tuesday Nov 6, 2018 #

Note

Have a cold. Probably acquired from S, but she seems to have it worse with a 104 fever last night. So no daycare today, which means I will try to go in for my office hours with Sylvia, we'll see how that goes.... At least the plumber came and rescued our washing machine, yay laundry!! Next mission: get the garage door working again. So much adulting.
