Pilates with a trial instructor. I think I liked the one who was really quiet due to a sore throat a few weeks ago better. But both would be fine! Sad instructor Vicki will be leaving!

Sylvia went swimming at the community center with her nanny for the first time today. Reports are that it went well! Psyched to go swimming with her sometime soon!

Gotta a text from physics colleague Jenna about biking to Boring, OR and back. Decided I wasn't up for a 35 mile ride being my first real bike, so went with them on the Springwater bike path until Powell Butte, when I got off, changed shoes, stripped off bike shorts and went for a run.

Super-gorgeous day. Here comes spring/summer!

Orienteering race 37:00 [3]

Woo! Orienteering! Admist my final LaTeX Saturday of the term. So glad it is almost over and now I have this library of problems for future years. Still have to make one more Quiz and their Final, but that's it!

Orienteering was down at Champoeg. We carpooled with Ueli, Swiss running buddy from lunchtime runs at Reed, who did a bunch of orienteering while in Switzerland last year. He was just behind me by only about a minute - good to have the competition.

The navigation was easy, one of the hardest things was dodging the Scouts (it was CROC's annual Scout-O). I felt pretty smooth, tried to push it on the bits that let me run fast.

Pelvic joint felt ok during and after. One ankle crunch. Ankles could for sure use some strengthening before trying to run team trials.

Sylvia went out with Tom orienteering in the front-facing carrier for the first time! Apparently they had a back and forth battle with some girl scouts. =) Sylvia had a fever Tues-Fri and is definitely better, but seems to still have some residual crankiness. Hopefully another night of sleep will cure!

Pilates. Lots of lower core work, which is still very weak, but at least it feels like I can start strengthening now. And a good break in a busy day as usual!

Well, I was supposed to go run a half-marathon race this morning, but I didn't yet have my recitation section problems for next week out to my colleagues, so had to LaTeX those up along with their solutions (becoming a TikZ ninja) and thus miss the race. Boo.

But, went out in the afternoon to get to distance in and was happy with my mostly-under-8 min miles. Not the last, because it is all uphill home for the final mile and was def tired and my Garmin died, so not exactly sure how slow I ended up... Total time is probably +/- one minute accuracy, distance +/- 0.05 mi.

Did the SW waterfront, which was a nice change of pace!

Am training! But Garmin had issues uploading and then wouldn't charge and blah... will try to figure it all out tonight.

But a bit of a bummer this morning, after running 9.8 miles yesterday sans SI belt, felt sharp pain in my pelvis this morning. Ibuprofen seems to have quelled, but still kinda bummed.

In baby news, got the little one a wooden house-bike to play with! Let the chaos begin....! She pulls herself up on anything these days (even just a wall) and switches between objects. Only stands for a second or two on her own though. When she really wants to move, it's definitely crawling. Fun times!!

Wow, Pilates sub instructor for Vicki worked us hard today! Really liked her. Some exercises I'd never ever done before and were great to do. Pelvis felt fine, which was a relief. Suppose I'll cool it on running this afternoon anyways though.
