Giving the foot a break. And a long drive to Tofino. Checked out Long Beach and Wild Pacific Trail.

Orienteering race 1:10:00 [4]

Long distance. A good race. Dropped a few seconds on the first one and flashes of yesterday came before me but the rest went well. Tired legs today but I think everybody was starting to feel the past week's races.
The terrain this weekend was very nice and I can definitely make the trip to Savona/Kamloops again.

Running 10:00 [1]

Long drive to Vancouver afterwards but stopped and looked at the Othello Tunnels. Hung at Stanley Park and the Beach Ave/Denman St area in the evening.

Orienteering race 42:00 [4]

Middle distance. Cooler temps today. Not totally happy with this one. Got the first one ok, but made errors on six(!) consecutive controls, which is not acceptable. Most of them were parallel errors- lots of small re-entrants and spurs. Second half went well so I take that part home with me.

Running 10:00 [1]

Checked out Lac Le Jaune after the race and then back to Riverside Park for the afternoon.

Orienteering race 21:30 [4]

Re-start. No problems finding the first five...but then did what I have been close to do several times (need to be a lot more careful) - ran to the wrong control. I was supposed to go to 8 but started to read from 11 to 12. Controls were very close together so it was not totally weird to screw up but no excuse. Took me 3 min before I figured it out. Rest went well and without that mistake I would only have been seconds behind. But again, that is just for the academics.

Orienteering race 5:00 [4]

Got 5 min into the race, good start, when I run by Anvil, Lia and Adria and was immediately called into duty by the latter. Super nasty and glad things turned out relatively well.

Running 20:00 [1]

Warm up. It takes the foot at least 5 min to get warmed up and ready to go although I am sure the warm up is very secondary to the ibuprofen.

Spent the afternoon at Riverside Park. Lots of action.

Running 1:45:00 [1]

Early morning run up the mountain. Not much of a run since we went straight up from Creekside underneath the chair lift. After 45 min we decided to head down and took a gravel road to the village, foot didn't like downhill, and the bike path back to Creekside.

Another great hike today - Cheakamus Lake. Not as spectacular as the Cedar one but still very nice.

MTB 1:00:00 [3]

Half day of MTB around Lost Lake. Started off with a family ride but one after the other dropped off and Anders and I got an hour of good to decent speed at the end. Tried one challenging trail at the end.

Running 30:00 [1]

Foot sore and run around village to find a pharmacy and some tape. While running to Lost Lake, the foot started to feel better and decided to do the relay.

Orienteering 25:00 [3]

Club relay. Formed a team with Matt and Carter. They ran both very well and gave me the chance make us the top DontGetLost team. I only had to reel in Tarno and keep Griz and Anvil behind me. The two latter caught, or close to, me to #2 but I didn't see them after that (check, check). Saw Tarno to #3 and got away from him a few controls alter (check). Made perhaps 1 min of mistakes overall but foot held and I enjoyed the terrain which was better than expected.

Went for an awesome hike in the afternoon. Ancient Cedar forest. Lots of climb but no problems for the kids and well worth it - huge trees and great views awaited.

Orienteering race 1:11:00 [4]

Wilderness like terrain. Really challenging technically but fair (maybe not the first one). A rare occasion when you are happy just finding the controls with no or minimal mistakes and speed was irrelevant(-ish). Had a good start but lost some time to #3 which was silly. #3 was easy, just on the other side of trail, and I lost the focus I had had on the first two controls. Came back into it though but dropped another 1-2 min on the last really tough hillside control. Downside was that I twisted my ankle already a few meters past the starting point. It didn't bother me in the forest but it started to hurt when we came in to the trail and ski area. I would like to think I could have run a minute faster at the end to grab that gold but that is just academia now.

Running 10:00 [1]

Warm up (no cool down...) - saw a bear on the way to start!

Took advantage of the lift ticket and head up to the top and Peak 2 Peak. Cool.

Warm up/cool down

Orienteering race 15:00 [4]

Fun sprint! Great area for this although it was at times challenging to see which one of the 27 circles you had to run to. Did one 'honest' mistake, #5, where I lost about 50s when I ran up the stairs to a hotel and almost in to the lobby - dead end. Lost another 20s when I started to run to the wrong control. Were some issues with my card not registering at one control but it all worked out.

Running 20:00 [1]

From the village to Lost Lake on some small so called nature paths. Lost Lake is close to the ideal lake.
